We stayed at the Inn at Deep Canyon for two weeks around Thanksgiving and had a two bedroom duplex rental, it was as if we had our own place. It had a fire place dinning area full kitchen two bedrooms and two full baths, with a semi private pool that you only share with the next door apartment. The room/apartment had dated furniture, but was very clean and comfortable. The people that run the Inn are absolutely wonderful. We will not stay any place else when visiting in the Palm Desert/Palm Springs area. I would recommend this place to everyone I know including my most loved family. We were treated like family always. You have to check it out!!

Two summers ago my wife and I found this hotel while trying to get away for the weekend. Beyond a low rate, we found a clean reasonably appointed room with a kitchenette and ample space. We made use of the pool and jacuzzi without being bothered. Overall the trip was so restful and relaxing that we returned last year and are already planning to do the same this year, only this time I'm bringing friends.

We have been staying at this cozy place for our Annual Summer Smash every year. Which is always the end of July the last weekend. My husband and I have been attending the Summer Smash for the past 7yrs now. We have a wonderful coordinator that works with us and she in turns books the rooms with the hotel. We have great service which in turns makes us come back every year for our annual get together. The staff is very accommodating since we do have a pot-luck with the other families that attend and we do use their banquet room. We spend at least anywhere from 3 to 4 days when we go. I can't wait until this years smash is gonna be Awesome. We always have a waiting list for those who want to come back every year. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that's visiting Palm Desert.

Thank-you,
Mr and Mrs. Oscar & Debbie Covarrubias and friends!

Our stay got off to a bad start with the state police arriving with a search warrant for our next door neighbours. We discovered in the morning that the deadbolt on the door adjoining our room to theirs wasn't even locked. Fortunately they were gone by then.

They rented us the room knowing the air conditioner was broken. We were awake all night listening to it drip. We checked. in on a Sunday. When we complained the following morning they told us a repair man was on his way. So they knew it was broken and rented the room to us anyway. We were charged the full amount for the room anyway.

The hotel is very very old and is a teardown. They have used bandages to fix major problems, which we didn't notice when checking in. Our toilet leaked the whole time we were there. It leaked so much that the tiles started to lift. They said they would fix it when we left.

We hardly had any hot water. The pool was warmer than our shower. Other guests complained of this but nothing was done.

The kitchenette consists of a 2 burner stove top, a bar sink and a bar fridge. Do not go there thinking you can cook a decent meal. The fan above the stove was so dirty you didn't dare turn it on. The sink had no drain stopper so we had to wash our dishes out of the small ice bucket.

The breakfast consists of a hard bagel, muffins and coffee and juice. They have reduced the office hours to 8:00 - 5:00.

The pool deck is pretty and clean but no one hardly used the pool because the water was so hot. It was literally warmer than our shower. No one wanted to complain in case it affected the little warm water we got in our room.

Do not go by their brochure or website. It ws probably charming and quaint when it was first built, but that was a long long time ago.

I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends. It's actually more of a run down motel that could really use a "face lift" on their rooms. It's a shame because the pool area landscaping was very nice, and our room had a nice large patio. Also, it's definitely geared towards senior citizens, we had a senior citizen neighbor who turned about to be the "dog police." Along the pet-friendly theme, it's misleading because you can't bring your dog to the pool area. I've stayed at a lot of great boutique hotels w/ a similar price range. Plus, the location is really far from downtown Palm Springs. Also the older crowd tends to think that because they are long termers, then they have the right to lay down the rules.

  • Liked — landscaping, patio in our room
  • Disliked — not really pet friendly, location, hotel residents

Pros: Fantastic customer service, quiet residential location, big rooms, large pool open 24 hours, eclectic clientele
Cons: Place needs a bit of a facelift, office closes at 6pm

My friend and I found this place when all the cute small "boutique motels" in Palm Springs were either booked or far too expensive. So glad we found it! As soon as I called to book a reservation, the gentleman who took my call talked to me as if his main concern of the day were to make certain we'd enjoy our stay. He helped me choose the right room, answered all my questions, and when we got there, we found every staff member to be just as warm, friendly, and helpful.

We had a huge room right off the pool, two double beds and a kitchenette with a stovetop, microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Plenty of dishes and flatware as well as pots, pans, and utensils.

Rooms are decorated in pastel 1980s decor, and the place needs a bit of a facelift, but at the price we paid, we didn't really mind at all. It's not shabby by a long shot, just needs a little tender loving care.

The room and bathroom were clean, the beds comfortable, and the AC worked great. We had no problems with noise or parties. (The office closes at 6pm, but we were given an emergency phone number, and reassured that noise was definitely an emergency.)

A very generous continental breakfast is served ("we provide everything but bacon and eggs"...and they do!) And they can give you great recommendations for restaurants (and have menus as well.)

A great alternative to Palm Springs at a very competitive price!

wonderful place, like a small oasis. Stayed here for two nights.
Quiet, friendly and not expensive. We had two rooms at the poolside - one with a kitchenette, so we even cooked our own dinner one night. Not much to do around here, but we had a wonderful day off in between driving from place to place, lounging around the pool.

Great supermarket closeby and Starbucks, and loads of places along Highway 11.
