“Love Pala!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2011

I stay at this lovely property almost monthly as they reward you nicely for your play with fantastic comps. This past trip was a little getaway before I return to work from a medical leave. Had a wonderful time and even bought a flattering swimsuit ( gained a few lbs since a knee injury ) at the Spa boutique and then enjoyed their duel temperature hot tub which thankfully is ADULTS ONLY!!! I get a kick when people bring their kids to a CASINO and are dissapointed they don't cater to children, maybe you shouldn't expose little ones to a clearly adult activity. Maybe with the exception of Circus Circus in Las Vegas casinos are not for kids lol! That said I had a little luck in the casino and had a couple of nice meals, oh and we always get the Pala Combination Breakfast from room service because it is huge and feeds both of us and is very reasonably priced :) In closing I will say all of the staff from valet to check in to house keeping and floor personel are pleasant and friendly, we always get a lovely room with a view to die for , the views looking towards Palomar Mountain are always stunning! Yes another fantastic stay at Pala and I look forward to my next! Oh I forgot, on tuesdays in the new lounge they have a free show for seniors, they call it the 60 + club and since my mom qualified I got to tag along, as a matter of fact I think any adult can see the show but only those 60 and older got free raffle tickets for cash prizes. It was fun! They had a Dean Martin and a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, they sang and mingled with the crowd.

Traveled here on a business trip which coincided with 9 year old daughter's spring break, so my wife and child came along. No kids allowed in hottubs, even with an adult.. My wife wanted to treat our daughter to dual massages at the spa....but they refuse to let children - even accompanied by parent - back to where such services are offered. The faciltiies are outstanding, but the policies are not family friendly and the staff made many errors all week with room-charging privileges. One hand of their computer system does not know what the other is doing, and it took three days to fix. Quite annoying when my wife is told she cannot charge incidentals to a room when we had TWO credit cards on file at front desk. So, my wife put down a third card and they couldn't figure out how to reverse it after miscommunication cleared up!!!! HOUSEKEEPING EVEN LOCKED THE MINI-BAR AFTER HAVING BEEN THERE TWO DAYS.

Pala casino is a fine casino to play at. The rooms are comfortable and nice.
Unfortunately, if you leave something (like a sweater) behind in the room do not expect it to be turned in to Lost and Found by the maid service. When you do call Lost and Found/security, do not expect them to put much effort into researching. They will return your phone call and be VERY short and quick with their verbal response as though you were bothering them with your phone call. Terrible public relations!

The suites on the top floor are excellent. I stayed thrice in the executive king suite (probably 950 sq ft or bigger) with huge living room and huge bedroom and huge bathroom with a great view of the pool and the mountains. The swirl tub is a nice touch as is the shower that can accomodate 4-5 people showering together. The room has a Keurig coffeemaker, complimentary bottled water and a nice double pull out couch. They even throw in a complimentary pair of fluffy slippers. The spa services are reasonably priced considering you can spend most of the afternoon in the wet floors and lounge while waiting for a massage. They keep the locker room clean and towels are of good quality. The buffet has greatly improved. Valley View, a neighboring casino, has always been a San Deigo buffet favorite but seems Pala has seriously revamped their buffet selection and expanded the buffet area. Prepare to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour for a table unless you are a VIP gambler. Now if only Pala can match Valley View's nightly lobster offering....

The casino's smoking and non-smoking area is a joke. It is very smoky every where you play it seems. They have a smoking black jack table that is just right next to a non-smoking black jack table so if all the players are smoking in the smoking bj table, guess who will suffer from all that second hand smoke?

The cabanas in the pool area are really nice too but it comes with a price of course. If you're not prepared to shell out money for half a day or a full cabana day, it's quite alright to stay in one of the pool chairs. The only caveat is that the bar servers seem to give better and faster service to the cabana-paying people.

If I can suggest these things to Pala management: hire better bands that play in the casino level. Also, add more tables inside the Noodles restaurant.

from the moment you walk through the doors, and days after you return home you feel like a King or Queen. That is how you are treated and Pala's sole GOAL.

Rooms have a SPA feeling, Clean , Romantic, Classic, and utmost Relaxing. Do suggest the Pool View...its beautiful, and closer to the elevator.

Had two different Spay treatments, and trust me when I share you are NOT cattle like Vegas.

Food --the Italian Restaruant is 100 Stars--Oak Room well its much different than we thought on how its presented to us. Wouldn't eat there again....but others might have a taste for it.

Casino--well no jackpot yet, but have to share it lets you play and enjoy yourself. It is NOT a money eatting machine, So personally I hate that cheated feeling---it allowed an equal balance of them taking and them giving. So play time I am so happy about.

Service---well can't say it enough. Please make it a point when and if you go to Pala to ask any of them a queston or just say hello. Actions speak louder than words, and you will witness utmost Regard of Staff no only giving you the time of day, they will make your day.

Please, ask for their Bloody Mary--even if you are not the Bloody Mary type YOU will be after your first sip.

Thanks Pala

Went for a family get-together and had brought wine in myy suitcase to take to the family home in Fallbrook for a dinner part. Forgot to grab it and went to the party. Packing the next morning my fiancee cleaned the room got us organized and once on the road I asked if he packed the wine. He said the bag wasn't there, he thought I packed it. I called guest services ans aftter checking the said the room had not been cleaned yet but there was no bag. So all I can assume is that the other reviews are true and they came into our room even though we always had the privacy sign up, and took the bag that also had a full bottle of vodka in it. So do they have camers in our rooms or what? Creepy place with creepy staff (excluding the valet staff, they rocked).

Front Desk staff was very slow to process check-in. Connecting to internet in room requires a cable that took 2 hours to be delivered. Remote for TV did not work 1st night, and a request for a replacement got us a unit that was not much better. Finally, my $300 "deposit" transaction which should have been terminated and returned when i checked out Sunday morning at 7AM, is STILL "pending" 3 days later!
