We can see why this place is a Pacific Grove institution. The case of goodies is beautiful, everything is delicious, and the people could not be nicer. The apricot Danish was superb as was the famous bear claw.
If only they could add an espresso bar in the corner, life would be complete and we could all just stay there forever!

We vacation in Pacific Grove each summer and this is our first stop. Everything is divine. We love the berry cream cheese danish. This time we tried a roll that has an egg baked into it, very tasty too.We have had sandwiches, bear claws, danish, and lovely loaves of bread. You really don't want to miss this place, it is the best!

We tried $32.00 worth of pastries about $3.00 each for Breakfast. We (age 16 to 71) took tastes of several of the pastries from Pavel's. Our favorites were a mixed berry with cheese Danish, Bearclaw, Chocolate Croissant, and a plain Cheese Danish. All the pastries were so big they could be shared with the seven of us all clamoring for a taste.

Donuts bigger than the size of your heads yet really good quality? Yes please! We came here not knowing what to expect - but very much satisfied and glad we stopped by this little gem. We got there around 8am before a day of hiking around Big Sur, and there was a little line out there door. Once they run out of their pastries and bread, they usually close down, so make sure to get there early enough to try everything!

We had a bear claw (huge and delicious), a Farmers bread (one of our favorite pastries ever which has egg, potatoes, cheese in wheat bread), an apply danish and a sandwich. I wish we could have come back to try more pastries but they were closed when we stopped by on a Monday. We will definitely be going back here to try out more!

This is the real deal. Placed on a side street. Walk to for locals. If you see someone walking their dog down the street on a weekend morning with a big, white bakery box in their hands, it is from this bakery and the bear claws and chocolate croissants are already gone!
