So I found myself playing the tourist in "downtown" Pacific Grove and realized that I'd never tried the 17th street grill. The open patio and the casual atmosphere make it seem very inviting, so I let myself in.
I ordered a burger and onion rings. I was expecting an ordinary burger, grilled or fried, with the usual condiments and so forth. It took a while to cook, but not extra long. The burger was fantastic. Obviously good meat, with great flavor, and the onion rings were perfect. The breading cooked up into almost a pastry shell, nice and crisp, around a perfectly done ring of onion. The burger was tasty and well-cooked, beef at its best.
The meat wasn't hidden in sauces or condiments. It was right up front, "The star of the plate." I will definitely be back, for another of those fantastic burgers.
