“ok stay...good for budget”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Went there for a weekend get-a-way. Read the reviews and thought we would give it a shot. The front office personell were great, informative and very friendly. That is the plus. We stayed in a downstairs room, it smelled very musty. The room had all the usual stuff was ok in that regard. But the bad thing is that you couldn't leave your sliding glass door open to get in fresh air, and there were no ceiling fans to move air around. If you get a balcony this would really help the experience out. But hey, how much time do you stay in a room? The noise from the rooms next door and upstairs was crazy. I haven't expericenced this before and was like,,,, what the heck is this. All in all, close to the lighthouse,,, must see, and walking distance to the ocean and the Butterfly sanctuary, I wouldn't stay here again, would try to find a place that would be quiet. Also, it was like they didn't clean the bathroom, hair in different area of the bathroom, yuck.

Room Tip: Go with a balcony, ask to upgrade if the hotel is not full.

We stayed two nights in a king room with a balcony and ocean view. The room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. We loved the location of the lodge. It was very quiet and peaceful. We saw deer in the parking lot and on the way to the beach. It is within walking distance to the beach and the Point Pinos Lighthouse and only about a mile from shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly. This is not a luxury hotel by any means. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to stay that is close to nature and away from the tourists and noise of cannery row, this is the perfect place..

My only complaints were the musty smell in the room which took some time to air out and the small outdated bathroom,

Overall we enjoyed our stay here very much and we will be back.

Room Tip: The ocean view is really just a peak at the ocean through the trees, not much of a view, but the sun...

We desided to take 2 nihts at this hotel, and did not regret it. Really charming an cozy hotel in pacific grove. Did not see the bytterflies because it was sommer, but had instead a verry nice 2houre walk along the coast into monterey.
Large room with cozy lodgefeeling, clean, helpfull ladies in the reseption and a good grab&go continental breakfast.
We feel this hotel deserves 4 stars, and hope to stay there again one day:)

I didn't pay for this hotel room, and I'm pretty glad it wasn't me who did!

We arrived late, had to wait about 5 minutes for the attendant to come back from changing linens in someones room. We were upgraded (WOO!) to a room with a balcony. It ended up being a first floor room with a balcony under the stairs for the 2nd floor, but right next to an apartment complex. It was damp, smelled musty, but was very clean.

All was fine until we heard the people above us. Their light walking across the room ALL NIGHT sounded like pounding. I didn't sleep well at all, to say the least.

I was hoping they had checked out for the next night. Nope. This time, their child was with them (maybe it was a different group of people). Holy loud. It sounded like when their kid was taking a shower, he was opening and slamming the sliding glass doors over and over again, or throwing something on the ground. Oh yeah, I could hear them urinate in the toilet.

If you're a light sleeper or get annoyed with hearing other people in a hotel room that isn't yours, do not stay here.

The continental breakfast ruled. Bright side!

I reserved a double queen with view through Expedia. We were assigned a room with two double beds and no view. The room was clean, spacious, light and airy. No problem there, however, it was not what I paid extra for. In all fairness it was not the fault of the lodge who were very patient about the problem but blamed Expedia for not reading their daily inventory reports and double booking. The town was booked so we kept the room although my two 13 year olds were a bit cramped in the double bed. The lodge itself was nice, the beds were excellent and the morning continental was quite adequate. The swimming pool was not fumctioning.

Room Tip: Book only second floor rooms if possible. Some rooms on the lower floor are dark and under stairwel...

Clean room that is short distance from ocean. Our unit had a patio door as the entrance and only door to the unit. I never had that before but it was okay. Close to Monterey, 17 mile drive & Point Lobos.

Room Tip: Think of hotels as places to sleep not to live in.

I planned well in advanced for an ocean view room, end unit and early check in. But when we arrived it was quite a different story. They put us in a room right under the stairs, with a glass slider for our door. They had no record of my requests. There was so much noise, we had to keep it shut, no windows or air conditioning, and no privacy. The tv worked when it felt like it.
When asked to be moved, they said the hotel was full.
Not a very good experience.
