Our go-to place is Michael's Taqueria, also in Pacific Grove, and although we realize that Michaels' food is not "authentic" Mexican, it's clean, tasty and well-prepared, and the staff treat us well. We decided to order takeout from Pepper's because our visiting daughter prefers it. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, veggie fajitas, and a combo plate. My husband went to pick up the food (which cost about 60 percent more than Michael's), and received a sealed bag. We opened it to find that it contained two orders of veggie fajitas. Hubby called and got a lukewarm apology and was told that the rest of the order would take ANOTHER 15 minutes. Fine. Our daughter inspected her "veggie" fajitas, which consisted of diced tomatoes and a few pieces of red bell pepper--not an onion or green pepper to be found. When my husband picked up our food, it was apparent that it had been sitting there a long time--it probably had been there when my husband picked up the first batch. My quesadilla was cold and congealed, and his food was mediocre. I've never been a huge fan of Pepper's, but I've never had an experience THIS bad. Never again.
