i didnt know what to expect because the reviews gave me mixed signals. Let me tell you about my stay... I took my boyfriend down there for his 35th bday and was slightly disappointed. Honestly, the rooms do look like the picture but was wayyyyyyy smaller than i expected. AND, i had the room with the fireplace!!!!
The best part of the room was the bath tub, it was huge!!! Me and my honey played all night in it....
FOR DINNER: We got a little tipsy and went to the FISHES WIFE, which is a resturaunt a couple hundred feet away(that was kinda convienient): food was only ok-nothing special!
Breakfast at the hotel was wack! we got up early for nothing! Bagels, toast, cereal, oatmeal and some OJ!
The thing i will say that i appreciated was the patient friendly staff and we had our privacy.. couldnt hear what was going on in the other rooms..

The only nice thing about this motel was the location. I requested a "King Luxury Suite" so that my friend and I could have separate beds. However, the mattress on the foldout sofa was so awful she could not sleep on it. It was just a piece of foam rubber and you could feel the springs right through it. The suite was very dark and had a musty aroma that wouldn't go away even though we opened all the windows and left them open overnight. The decor was 70's bachelor apartment style, very dreary and depressing. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper in the shower. Outside the back door and from the deck off the breakfast room, the weeds were 3 feet high. The whole area was very neglected looking. How much effort would it take to pull some weeds and maybe plant a couple flowers? We did get a big laugh from the signage out front describing the premises as "luxury suites". On what planet?

We've stayed several times now at the Rosedale Inn. The location is fantastic; directly across the street from the Asilomar Conference grounds. A giant wooden bear greets you as you breath in the sweet smelling pines and listen to the sound of the surf coming up from the beach. It's an unpretentious place, but clean and quiet with spacious, comfortable rooms. We always stay in one of the suites and take advantage free morning breakfast. The Rosedale Inn is a great place to hunker down for a quiet, relaxing getaway. It's so easy to pop into Carmel, just minutes away, for a romantic dinner or shopping. Inn managers Charlie and Dianna Wareing are congenial hosts and Milo the dog is an enthusiastic greeter.

The staff at the Rosedale Inn are exceptionally personal. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and also recommended great dining locations. Our room was spacious. We had a seperate living room and bedroom. The room was clean and comfortable. We found the Inn charming. We were especially surprised to see deer walking near the facilities. We have spent many weekends in the Monterey area, but this was definately one of the best. The personal touch provided by the staff was refreshing. We look forward to more trips to the Rosedale Inn.

The BEST location if you can stand the smell. The rooms in our "deluxe king suite" were huge and everything about the location is fabulous.

We stayed here after Christmas and were OK with the size and room overall. The decor is very 1980s bachelor and the King Deluxe suite had a musty smell, was dark and did not feel clean (with peeling paint in the bathroom). Take Fabreeze, open the windows and you may be abe to deal with it (we did).

This proves you get what you pay for and the word deluxe is really like buying a deluxe hamburger for $3.

Really the location was the best. You can hang out at the Asilomar Conference grounds and pretend that is where you are staying.
