Rosedale Inn
Ranked #9 of 17 Hotels in Pacific Grove
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I'm not quite sure why the term "Executive" is in the name of this place as such terms normally put me right off. However the Inn is in an excellent location and a very good place to stay - vastly better than staying in nearby Monterey. A peaceful setting with great access to the beach and boardwalks through the adjacent (public access) Conference Centre. Very near to the 17 mile drive and only 15 minutes away (the direct route) from Carmel.

Pacific Grove has some terrific restaurants (The Fishwife - which is a short walk away - and also the Thai restaurant in Lighthouse Avenue) and a very nice laid back feel - unlike the tourist trap of nearby Monterey with the nightmare of where to park.

The Inn looks a bit dated and some of the fixtures and fittings have seen better days, but it's a clean and friendly place at a decent price point. The continental breakfast is passable but you may need to remind them to keep the coffee flasks topped up when its busy. If I could I would award this 4.5 stars but 4 stars would be too mean!

Overall we enjoyed our 3 night stay and would return if we were in the area.

Our stay at the Rosedale was great. We wish we had scheduled another night there. It is very comfortable, reasonably priced, and with the small number of rooms, gave us nice privacy. The breakfast had about anything you could want. The proximity to Asilomar State Park and beach was fantastic!!

Room Tip: I would think that any room there would be great.

My husband and I stay at the Rosedale Inn every time we visit Monterey, and have been doing so now for over 15 years. It is a small property, very quiet and clean, with nicely appointed rooms that were recently renovated. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom is very large, perfect for two people. The Inn is on a quiet street directly across the street from the Asilomar Conference Center, which has a nice path leading directly to the beach. It is very common to see deer wandering the area. I would highly recommend this place.

This was my husband and my first time staying at the Rosedale Inn and the staff treated us with the utmost respect. I could not have asked for better service. We will definitely be coming back. It was our 31st anniversary and we have been coming to Monterey for over 20 years to celebrate our time together but had always stayed at the Light House Lodge. We found out that a lot has changed at Light House Lodge and they went through new owners. Well needless to say the prices went up and the quality went down so we then realized that it was time for change. That's when we went on the internet and found Rosedale Inn. Not only were they a better price but there quality outweighed others by quite a good margin. Thank you to all of the staff at Rosedale Inn. See you next year!!!

My husband and i stayed there for a romantic getaway for the weekend. We stayed in the King Room. The rooms are newly renovated therefor are absolutely gorgeous. Clean and quite and the innkeepers are very professional and very nice. Continental breakfast was beyond the normal. I would highly recommend the Rosedale Inn

Room Tip: Room 108 is a King Suite Room

We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was very friendly, property was very nice and quiet and the rooms were above my expectations. The only reason I'm rating this a 4 star stay is due to the noise of your neighbors shutting their door. It wasn't intentional at all but with the close proximity of some neighbors you can hear them in the hallway. I want to point out though that we could not hear them once in the room. Room was clean and well furnished. The quality of the shampoos, etc. were the best I've had. The products are from Bath & Body Works and I actually used them all. Good conditioner and lotion, two of my more pickier products, and I was very happy with both of them. We didn't experience the breakfast during this trip. The beds and pillows were very comfy and I was thrilled to have a ceiling fan in the room. Due to the location of the property, away from the downtown area and mostly residential, there was no traffic and deer were frequently seen. It's easy to get to and from all locations. We used our AAA card and received a discount on our room. There is no ocean view with these rooms but that does not change our decision to stay here again. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary that weekend and it was absolutely fabulous!

Beautifully re-decorated rooms, Fresh and clean. Best possible location to be near the 17 Mile Drive with its convenient connection to Carmel and fun shopping. Quiet, charming, very good price for value given. First rate continental breakfast in a very pleasant breakfast room. A good seafood restaurant, open late, nearby. Do not miss taking the short walk through the neighboring conference grounds woods to the beach to watch the sun set over the Pacific, a not to be missed romantic moment. We got to watch a sunset, on the beach wedding. We did an eight day, six hotel, trip up and down the coast. The Rosedale Inn was the very best with the next best a very distant second. We would not hesitate to return to the Rosedale anytime we are in the area. We recommend it without qualification.
