Despite unable to take reservations (maybe just for the busy summer season), the 12 of us were seated at two adjacent tables inside (outside would have been perfect on this rare summer warm morning). The panakes (plate sized) got rave reviews, the corn beef hash and eggs also great, and the omelets were gobbled up! Not so great were the crepe dishes...cold crepe and unappealing egg mixture filling....lots of fruit though. btw....the floor was wet...and so were our purses that were placed there...grrr.

We stopped in for breakfast on our last morning in California, and what a wonderful treat. We had been told First Awakenings was a place we should not miss for breakfast by a Big Sur park employee, and he was right on the money. It was delicious, and the portions were generous. We enjoyed dining outside drinking coffee and soaking up our last moments in Monterey. We will be back!

My wife and I had not been there for 15 years. It just like the first time, we visited. Good food, good price, nice place. love the outdoor patio.

This is a definite must for breakfast when you are in the Monterey area. There is outdoor seating around a firepit, which is a cool touch. The portions are huge and delicious. I had a California crepe (avacado, mushrooms, ham) with roasted potatoes. Somehow, I managed to eat the whole thing, it was so delicious. Would definitely go here again. It is just around the corner from Cannery Row and the Aquarium. The parking was a little difficult to find; it's just up the hill from the restaurant, but once we found the lot we realized that you can get your parking ticket validated at the restaurant and then the parking is free.

Found this place because it was the only thing open at 7 AM! What a great find though. Food was great, good sized portions, healthy. We only ate breakfast there, but went back twice. Staff was really nice. Great coffee.
