So, we cruised reviews to see if we should make reservations for Favaloro. And we got to the person who gave it only one star BECAUSE IT WASN'T OPEN! Then the reviewer mentioned that they'd recently had a FIRE and were working on the restaurant. So unfair to review somewhere you haven't eaten.
Favarolo was great. A small, intimate restaurant with wonderful waiters, a diverse menus, fabulous daily specials, and a fair wine list.
I ordered the special and it was fresh sea bass wrapped in parchment paper which was stuffed with artichoke hearts, fava beans, and a few more things. The bass sat on a bed of so-so pilaf and was surrounded by so-so not quite al dente fresh veggies.
My husband ordered spaghetti bolognese. He is half Italian and pronounced it "perfect."
We don't usually order dessert, but we tried the creme brulee and it was good, not the best, but good, and topped with sliced strawberry and a blueberry.
Service was good, but the busboy was quite noisy and would pile plates onto his arms and keep grabbing things off the table. A few trips would've made it more quiet and not so frenetic.
The restaurant is charming. We would go back next time we're in Pacific Grove.
