Menu is creative and features sustainable fish, fine meats, imaginative salad and vegetable accompaniments. The winelist is diverse. You can count on your server's recommendation, including wines from small vineyards you won't find elsewhere, but you'll be glad you got to enjoy them. Located in a quiet neighborhood.

I had planned for a quick day trip to Monterey to celebrate my wife's birthday and our anniversary. I made reservations here with a quick note to the restaurant letting them know it was a special occasion. They sat us down at a corner area of the restaurant where we were able to see all the other diners. They had butcher paper down on the table with a quick scribble of "Happy Birthday & Anniversary" which was far more than we were expecting. We felt very welcomed.

The food hear is superb especially their crab cakes, and the avocado crab salad which are great dishes to start with. Their menu does change but if you love seafood it will not disappoint. The desert we both ordered our own and both came out with candles on top. If you are looking to impress someone this is a great place to take them when in the Monterey area. Also as a tip don't bother to bring your own wine unless you want to but the wine is relatively cheap at face value if you order a bottle.

I've been here many times... I'm a local. The food is always "good" and sometimes better than other, but never sub par. Service is CA competent, the wine list is outstanding an priced well below market... The entrees are inexpensive ($20-$25) with some nice salads, and specials.

I've read reviews that think this establishment is "expensive" and that's a good chuckle... Stay out of SF or NYC where pizza is more expensive...

Try the duck ($20) the gnocchi app (8) the sturgeon or scallops... both in the low $20 range...
My only "reservation" is their deserts need a little work... I'll usually pick up a pint of gelato on the way home.
Very good food, fairly priced... give it a try.

The seafood here is AMAZING! BUT it's prepared horribly. The gorgeous scallops I had were topped with some sort of spicy tomatos that completely covered the delicate flavor of those wonderful scallops. We had the worst service ever! I am a prior hotel/restaurant manager in some high end restuarants in SF and this was the worst. Not the worst I've ever had but pretty bad. The server was totally neglectful and just plain rude. She acted almost snobbosh! They need some definite training with their servers if they want to be a top notch restaurant and the chef needs to tone it down and compliment the flavors of their amazing fish, rather than cover it up with sauces and things. I have to say it again, the fish was fabulous if they could just prepare it the correct way. Hire some real servers and get a chef that can really make amazing things happen with the fish and they would be the best in PG, maybe Monterey. We live here and would go back if they made this happen but as it is, we will not return!

Chefs here know how to put together great single ingredients and transform them into tasty dishes. We ate on a non-busy Monday night where we had a quiet evening ( no one was sitting next to us) of great service and a meal of the dungeness and avocado salad, duck confit with broccoli & potato, scallops with braised romaine & a rice pudding (not a sweet pudding & not gelatinous). For dessert a shared chocolate torte/ice cream + coffee. The staff clearly are proud in a modest way when the customer enjoys the food. Total bill without wine was about $70.
