“Good Food, Good Prices, Easy Access”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The Fishwife has been a favorite of ours for more than 20 years. We had not been back in the Carmel, Pacific Grove area for 10 years until last week and were happy to see that the Fishwife has not changed. The food was fresh, excellent and well prepared. Service was very good and the pricing has always been attractive when compared with other restaurants in the area. Parking is on the street and reservations are recommended. You will not go wrong at this small coastal restaurant.

“Great Reviews - Good Service -Food Not so Much”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Out near the beautiful dunes near Asilomar - this is a funky, family kind of café. We went there due to rave reviews in tourist guides but the food was just not that great. Well...my friend loved the calamari steak but I thought it was too covered up with goopy sauce. My salmon was kinda dry -seemed like an 'aged' piece of fish-washed off and then overcooked. The plates are served with fries and the kind of salad that's mixed in bulk in the morning. All in all-The ambiance was diner roadhouse, service was attentive & the fare was OK, but nothing special. Do I sound cranky? Well, yes, I was rather disappointed. When visiting beautiful Monterey/Carmel I was shooting for memorable dining experiences to go along with all that natural beauty.

“California Coast 2013”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Travellers that we had met, at our previous stay, told us to definitely go here. It was ok. The service was impeccable, and our waiter was helpful. Did not know his wines very well, though, and we took a chance and ended up ordering what we understood to be a dry white wine...it was sweet. The Chowder was delicious. The main meal was fine...just not spectacular. Everyone's taste is different :-)

“Really good food at great prices”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Don't bother with Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey, go here instead. Firstly, the drive to the restaurant is beautiful - we caught sunset on the way across, which I will remember forever. Secondly, the food is better. We had a perfectly reasonable if forgettable meal at fisherman's wharf, but you know that you are eating in tourist rip-off restaurants when you eat there. Thirdly, the pricing is very reasonable.

I had the combo platter to start. There is no way any person could call that an appetizer for one person, it is colossal (and very good). I shared it with my girlfriend who didn't order an appetizer - we stuggled to finish it between us. Really good food, just far too much of it!

We both had fisherman's bowls as our main course, but after the enormous (shared!) first course neither of us were particularly hungry. It was excellent though, especially for the price. The rest of the food coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic too. Good food, great value, great atmosphere. We loved it, and would love to go back to try the rest of the menu.

“Savoring every bite”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

We ordered the seafood quesadilla and seafood wrap for lunch and were not disappointed. The quesadilla had a yummy cream sauce that just melted in your mouth. The wrap had a wonderful light lobster sauce that set the seafood on center stage. The seafood in both dishes was tender and had a wonderful flavor. Service was great, it was clean, and the prices were good. We'll be back next time we are in the area.
