We have always had a very good meal at the Fishwife. Can get crowded and noisy. The service has always been very good and friendly.

My husband and I have been going to the Fish Wife for probably close to 20 years. We have always had excellent food and great service regardless of being swamped. I would strongly suggest making reservations if you plan on going at peak times. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a fast food establishment. With that being said- do not expect fast instant service or fried shrimp if you are not a big seafood person. They have fried shrimp and it is good-but fried shrimp is fried shrimp. Plan on expanding your food palate. Slow down and enjoy your experience. We appreciate that fact that this is not a fancy pretentious place-it is what, it is- we can dress up if we want, but we don't feel out of place if we just came in from walking the beach. Do not let the bad reviews sway you as I strongly feel that expectations differ from person to person.

We have been visiting this restaurant for years. The location is off the beaten path so you don't have to put up with a lot of tourist traffic and inflated prices. The food is always outstanding and the daily specials are a great value.
This last visit we enjoyed fresh halibut and delicious clam chowder. The restaurant is small and quaint. Service is always good. Most of the time you are dining with the locals. They always know a good value and good food.
The only downside is since the location is near Asilomar you will most likely have to drive there unless you are staying in Asilomar or the adjacent motels. It is too far of a walk from Lover's Point, downtown Pacific Grove or the aquarium. If you are on a bicyle, it would be a nice ride.

We go here a lot, the food is very good, consistent quality, a very good value as are the wines. Nice wines at a reasonable price which is very important to us. We enjoy wine with our meals, but do not like to be over charged for them. The service is great, the staff is attentive and friendly. It Is next to a wonderful beach which makes for a nice stroll after dinner.

This restaurant is across the street from the Asilomar conference center, and just down the street from several motels that are also near the Asilomar. The last time we were in the area, we were on a quest for the perfect clam chowder. We tasted samples in Monterey, on the wharf and in Monterey. We decided that Fishwife had the best clam chowder.
