This place has decent size rooms which are certainly dated but provide acceptable comfort level for price charged in the area.
Room charges include breakfast which is good with the only negative aspect being the fact that it can get really crowded and there are not enough seats inside for everyone.
One unexpected feature was a popcorn machine in the room which served its purpose and was quite handy.

We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. We had 34 people staying here for a reunion. It was perfect! They have rooms with kitchens or any configuration you may need. The jacuzzi area was perfect for family gatherings, they have a conference room you can use once the sun goes down, it's across the street from the beach and Asilomar State Park. Breakfasts are amazing with scones, fresh baked goods and waffles, etc. wine and cheese party every night makes it an easy place to gather and relax. Robert, the owner, was accommodating. Everyone had a great time. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars, is that the rooms were a bit dated. Clean but worn. We all enjoyed our stay.

Hotel was a little difficult to find (it may have been our GPS), front desk clerk was friendly and courteous when we checked in. Room was a little dated, bathroom was clean. We did find ants walking on the counters and in our luggage in and around the bathroom in the morning. If we weren't so tired we probably would have strolled down to the nearby beach. Breakfast was nice, hard boiled eggs, bagels, pastries, fresh fruit, oatmeal and cereal. Nothing fancy but a very nice spread.

My aunt and I stayed one night at this cozy little Inn. While we did not have time to enjoy many of the amenities (cheese and wine happy hour, hot tub, pop corn maker, in-room fireplace), we did have breakfast. Make your own waffles, packaged oatmeal, bagels and cream cheese, assorted pastries, hard boiled eggs, whole fruit, cereal, coffee, tea and juice were all available. The room was clean and comfortable. Beach is about a five minute walk down the Asilomar Boardwalk. Great deal for a convenient location.

Stayed at the Pacific Gardens Inn for just one night on my way to LA from SF through the Big Sur, but that was enough to make me fall in love with this place! The hotel is really nice and the rooms are cozy. Mine had a fireplace (with woodfire and all) and even a pop corn machine. The room was on the ground floor and facing the street, but it was still very quite. The beach by the hotel is really nice, specially at night where you can enjoy the sunset and maybe a bonfire. There's an old lighthouse close by that you can visit, but it was closed when I went there. The hotel is pretty close to Monterey and Carmel-by-the-sea, so that's nice too.
