This is one of the newest restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula and is catching on quickly! We went on a weeknight without a reservation, expecting a quiet scene and were stunned by a crowd waiting for tables in the entry. After being greeted by a friendly hostess and offered complimentary wine while we waited for a table, we figured, why go anywhere else? Besides, it was a fun, party-like atmosphere. The staff was attentive and appear to be enjoying what they do (refreshing). The menu is varied and contains homemade pastas, comfort food selections and fresh ingredients, all at very reasonable prices! Don't miss dessert - wonderful tarts and great tiramisu. Can't wait to go back!!

This delightful restaurant is truly an Alasko family affair from the kitchen to the front of house to the design and construction of the interior. Carl and his daughter Saroja, assisted by NY-based designer daughter Ariele, have created a wonderful haven for fine food in a carefully crafted and distinctive setting in Pacific Grove.

I had the good fortune to visit the restaurant, which had just opened...literally days earlier...on a recent trip to California. The experience was memorable, the food well prepared and tasty and the service very attentive. Traditional dishes, whether light or hearty, all beautifully made to perfection and attractively presented. Sure, there were some initial hiccups on that early post-opening date, but all were readily forgivable as the staff worked very diligently to make the experience the best it could be for their guests.

The menu was so appealing, and the food so very good! The zabaione - to die for! So light and frothy...heavenly! I will be sure to return again on my next visit and encourage others to check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is an outstanding new restaurant. The service is prompt and gracious. The wine is reasonably priced and the food is delicious. If you are visiting Pacific Grove or if you are a resident, plan to stop here for dinner. It's very popular already, so the best thing to do is call for a reservation. If it's jammed, try sitting at the bar. Try the zucchine ripiene for a starter and then treat yourself to the filetto alla griglia. Add in a glass of chianti and you'll love it.
See you there.

This restaurant has only been open for 2 months and has already become my favorite restaurant. I have dined at il Vecchio numerous times with business associates, friends and family and they have all been impressed. Have watched the service improvements that have been made since opening & more experienced staff have been added. The culinary staff is excellent. The decor is unique to the local dining scene, but would fit right in in New York or London. Great use of glass window walls that still breaks the room into comfortable dining areas. Definitely try it, you won't be disappointed!

This was one of the best Italian I have had. We made a reservation and got in no problem. We saw as we walked out the tables were all made from scrap wood and all chairs were different. The tables were pretty close to each other. We were right as you walked in on the side by the window but it was not a problem. The food was amazing, I had the gorgonzola apple gnocci which was mouth watering. The pumpkin pie had home made whip cream on top. It beats my own I make for Thanksgiving. Amazing price for the food. adverage was about $12 an entree. There was a wait as we left, so make reservations.
