“Perhaps not quite ready for prime time”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

Local controversies about extended hours for this dining spot in PG prompted us to try it last week for a late lunch. As first timers we were not quite sure whether to seat ourselves or wait for someone to show us to a table. We found a table in this somewhat sparsely furnished and largely undecorated space and were able to order promptly. My spouse selected the chowder and pronounced it good. I ordered the special soup, cream of parsnip. While it tasted ok, it had the consistency of a thick paste, apparently from too much starch. We shared the brisket sandwich and found it fairly salty. Given the exuberant local reviews, we were prepared for a more memorable culinary experience. Perhaps dinner is different...

“Exceeded all expectations.”

Arrive early this time of year for a bit of the sunset. Vegetarian risotto with wild Big Sur mushrooms and winter vegetables was as spectacular. Everything was performed with great joy and expertise.

“Now open for dinner - try it!”
Reviewed December 3, 2011

They are experimenting with extended dinner hours. We found the food and service to be excellent. The cioppino with the side of grilled cheese different and yummy. Atmosphere is average because part of golf course eatery but location on the course near the ocean is beautiful. Hard to find at night because of no signage, but worth the search.

“Incredible food! An unexpected gem!”
Reviewed October 28, 2011

I had hesitated to dine at the Point Pinos Grill. It's located inside the clubhouse for the PG Municipal Golf Links and I didn't there would be much atmosphere nor food options other than burgers/sandwiches/wings. Boy, was I wrong! AquaTerra Culinary services has upgraded standard grill fare with incredible salads (I can't even describe how good the squash, apple, grilled chicken salad was), soothing soups and a REAL burger, 8 ounces of meat, bacon, avocado, onion ring included and served with addicting chips. It was a little expensive but compared with other places on the Peninsula, not excessively overpriced. Our server was pleasant and just the right amount of attentiveness. She answered all our questions about the menu and our water glasses were always filled. And thrifty me is here to say....it is WELL worth it! Note: There are gorgeous views of the Pacific from here. There really aren't many restaurants in the area that can boast such a view.
