The docents are well informed and friendly. We spent about an hour meandering through the lighthouse & grounds. Informative California maritime history. Worth the price of admission.

This lighthouse is really small and quite far away from the ocean. Wondered how it could be of use in the past as a lighthouse. Could boats really see it?

There’s entrance fee of $5 adult, $2 children. Parking is free. I wasn’t overly excited about visiting the lighthouse museum (especially being quite hungry past lunch time), so nothing to share there.

This working lighthouse has outstanding exhibits, from the era in which it was inhabited, including during World War II, when the area was used for beach patrols. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a good looping video in the basement which provides a good historical background.

LIghthouse was interesting, If you have not been to a lighthouse before it is worth seeing.

Could not find a good book on it in the bookstore, they seemed to all be feminist literature about female lighthouse keepers. A nice general book would have been appropriate.

We walked out and back from Monterey. It is about 5-6 miles. This was the best part of the visit.

Fun to learn about the lighthouse and climb up into tower and down into basement. Nice museum and knowledgeable docents. Limited hours (we went Thursday afternoon).
