Pt. Pinos Lighthouse is now operated by the City of Pacific Grove and the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove is undertaking restoration and renovation of this historical gem. It sits on the point surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Grove Golf Course. The Historic El Carmelo cemetery is across the street and beautiful Pt. Pinos Grille is also across the street. A wonderful destination for your trip. Open Sat and Sunday 1-4. The Historical Society is doing an amazing job of restoration and taking it back to it's glory days is a never ending job with dozens of volunteers donating countless hours of their time. Funded through grants and donations, the renovation continues and there is so much to see. Stop by for a visit down an important historical path and help support the continued restoration.

Great activity for families with small children. My own children went here for the first time when they were 8 and 11. We went back again this summer and they are now 23 and 26. They both talked about how much they loved that visit so many years ago. Don't forget to look for the dear in the cemetery across the street. We saw several fawns this summer.

This lighthouse is somewhat inland, and is currently undergoing a renovation. It is a typical relatively low coastal lighthouse which is perched on high ground overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It has limited hours, so check before you go.

The historical society has done an excellent job setting up the rooms with period pieces and there is a docent who can tell you stories of the past lighthouse keepers and the workings of the light. It's only too bad that the fog horn (a separate facility) is no longer in use along with the light.

Could not go to the top but it was still fun. Staff did an absolute excellent job explaining all of the lighthouse details. Great place to visit while you are close to the coast.
