right on the pacific--with about 12 miles of paved trails right across the street. I think its the nicest place to stay in Pacific Grove or Monterey for that matter. Pay the extra for a room with a view on the second floor of one of the buildings. Very well maintained, and clean. The beds are great, and the bedding fabulous. The breakfast is so-so, and if you aren't worrying about the money.. go to the Victorian Cafe, downtown, for breakfast--and if you get the chance, try the raspberry pancakes--wonderful.

recently spent 3 nights celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. 2nd stay at 7 gables. had a room looking out on the ocean, awesome view, and listened to the waves all night. great breakfasts with good selection. bed extremely comfortable. unlike other b&b's we have stayed at during the 4-6 pm wine and cheese thing they acutally have real bottles of wine; you don't get wine out of a box here. quiet. convenient. they have one tv in the lobby if you are desparate to watch tv while there; no tv's in the rooms. wireless internet, worked fine. a little pricier than some other b&b's, but in our opinion worth it. would stay there again tomorrow.

When we entered this beautiful Victorian B&B to sign in, I fell in love with all the lovely antiques and huge windows. The staff was more than helpful and after seeing the original room we had booked on line, we decided to up-grade to a room with a full view of the ocean. We stayed in Rocky Shores on the third floor of the Beach House. The Beach House was originally a separate B&B but was bought around ten years ago and added to the property of Seven Gables Inn. Even thought all the rooms (at least the ones we saw) were beautifully furnished and kept impeccible clean, the Beach House rooms had many nice details featuring the crown moulding, larger bathrooms and lavish drapries.
We went downstairs to one of the many parlours in the late afternoon to enjoy some very good local wines and great hors d'oeuvres. The wait staff stood close by and would refill your glass as soon as it was empty. The cookies and cold milk was an added bonus before retiring for the evening.
Hearing the crashing waves just outside our windows was fabulous and in the mornings we woke up to the sound of seagulls and bright sunshine.
Everything about this B&B was perfect and worth the extra money for perfection. You won't be sorry you stayed there.

This is an excellent inn with the best breakfast of all B&Bs we've stayed at. The rooms are great and very comfortable. But, the location is perfect! The views from the hotel are priceless - even from our room which was one of the cheapest. You can walk right across the street to Lovers Point Park and Beach and stroll down the coastline. Highly recommend it!

II returned to Seven Gables for my third visit and felt even more pampered than ever. If you are looking for an attentive staff, this is the place for you. Amanda at the front desk deserves a Five Star rating for being so helpful.

The Inn and gardens are carefully maintained and the views are breathtaking. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, this is the place. A hearty breakfast is served each day in a beautiful dining room overlooking the ocean and the coffee is wonderful! A very nice variety of wine is served each afternoon, along with cheese, fruit and crackers. The wine is also available for purchase. Fresh baked cookies are served later in the evening. You won’t go to bed hungry in this place.

My first night I stayed in the Fairmont Room in the Main House. The room has lots of windows and is very light inside. There is an electric fireplace (for ambiance) and two comfortable chairs for enjoying the view towards Monterey Bay. The room was smaller than others I have stayed in and I found the bathroom to be rather claustrophobic. If you are like me and you need a bit of space in order to feel comfortable, you might ask for a room with a full sized bathroom.

The remaining nights I stayed in the larger Breakers Room with magnificent views of both Monterey Bay and Lover’s Point. Binoculars are provided in all rooms. Breakers Room has a gas fireplace and two very comfortable chairs for enjoying the view. Even the bathroom had a great view! The ceiling area over the toilet is only 5 ½ high in this room so men need to be aware of that when booking this room.

The rooms are all different and different sizes so you need to read the website descriptions carefully and decide which is more important to you, view, size, privacy, etc. If you have questions, email or phone the Inn, they are happy to answer your questions so you make the right choice.

The only thing I would caution you about is to bring a small alarm clock if you need to awake at a certain time in order to catch a flight home. There was some type of MP3 player in the room that might have served as an alarm clock but I could never figure out how to get the timer to work, even with the instruction book.

I won’t hesitate to recommend this place!

This is a great B&B, spoilt by one thing.

Last time we stayed there, the breakfast was really only ordinary. However, on our previous stay, it was fine.

Putting that aside, this is a great place to stay- it is a magnificent building, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, adjacent to Lovers Point in Monterey.

The rooms are elegant- all have a self contained bathroom.

The furnishings are exquisite.

The lounge area for guests is beautifully decorated and furnished in period style, with genuine and valuable antique furniture.

The hospitality generally is superb- wine and cheese is served during the afternoon.

When you stay here, you are able to enjoy gracious living in a romantic setting.

I loved Seven Gables Inn Bed and Breakfast! Our room was small, but very comfortable and super clean! Awesome views from our room, breakfast room and reception area. Breakfast was good and staff was so friendly and helpful. Stay here, you won't be disappointed! I already plan to go back, but this time not for work, but for fun!
