I had read several complaining reviews of this Bed and Breakfast but found it to be very nice! We had a carriage house room that included a sitting area, a fireplace with another sitting area, a large comfortable bed and a large bathroom that included a double whirlpool bath, shower, and separate toilet. Of course, the rooms and antique furnishings are old but everything seemed clean and cared for. We had a view of the ocean which was right across the street from the Inn.
Previous reviews warned that the breakfast and afternoon tea would be terrible and that we would have to hurry to get any thing to eat....not true. We were treated to a lovely assortment of cheeses, crackers, vegetables, dip, and a really wonderful sweet cake. Wine was available as well as coffee and tea.
The breakfast included a quiche of sorts, hot and cold cereals, a nice fruit selection, juices, and great breads to toast.
Sherry, sodas, and water was available at all times.
The help at the Inn were very helpful and offered to make dinner reservations for us. There was a turn-down service available too!
I would definitely recommend others to stay here....it was lovely.

  • Liked — The room was lovely!
  • Disliked — Conflict over the 50% off night deal......we had to have signed up for it before we knew about it.

Stay here if you want to be able to see sea otters, harbor seals, and hear the ocean from the inn! Green Gables was just as great as all the other Four Sisters Inns I have stayed at. The free breakfast buffet is a treat to wake up to and you have a paper delivered to your door at 8. I loved the eggs benedict and all the fresh fruit. The coffee was perfect and available all day. The afternoon wine and cheese is a real treat with white/red wines, homemade cakes, and can be a dinner if you want it to be. The balcony room here is spectacular. I loved the sounds of crashing waves and the fact you could sit on the bed and watch the wildlife all around. This inn is perfect too if you want to exercise. You are right next to the rec trail. I found the hospitality to be top notch. I was lost on the way to the inn and the inn worker called my cell phone and talked me all the way there. She then got me all settled, fed me dinner of her own, and made sure I was cozy in front of the fire. I loved my stay here. It's magical. Go and you will see.

P.S. A few steps away from the inn is a sanctuary for harbor seals. Hundreds of them chilling out on the beach right next to the inn! Amazing. Also, go eat at the Fishwife!

We just returned from a relaxing visit at the Green Gables Inn. My husband and I enjoy visiting this inn because of it's warm, homey feel. It's like being in a storybook house with all the wonderful architectural details inside and out. Even those walking the rec. trail across the street look up at the Green Gables Inn in envy of those staying there, including obvious locals on their daily walk or run. We loved falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore, while a glowing fire warmed our room. It's close proximity to the aquarium and other regular haunts makes it one of our favorite places to stay when visiting the area. The cranberry muffins were delicious and the innkeepers friendly and accomodating. It truly is a wonderful place... home away from home.

Wonderful stay at this piece of heaven. We arrived early but were offered tea and coffee and were in our room within 30 mins. The room Balcony was beautiful it overlooked the sea and had a massive double bed and on the enclosed balcony a large single we slept there with the window open listening to the sea. At 3am we got woken by the racoons in the bins and deer comming along the street. Breakfast was great. An overall fantastic stay Thanks Kate.

We chose Green Gables after a terrific experience with the Four Sisters location in Seattle. As it was a special anniversary, we treated ourselves to the Lacy Suite on the ground floor. At first I was concerned because it is immediately to the left of the front door and off the living room, but for the most part people were courteous and it was fine. There is no water view, but it is a huge suite and of course you see the water from all the common areas. As others have noted, the breakfasts are not huge, but the scenery is great, and the wine and cheese in the afternoons could be a dinner! Enormous bath! We stayed three nights and on the last evening there was a truly loud and obnoxious gathering in the front room of six people visiting and it was still going on when we returned from dinner. As we had a early flight with an hour and a half drive first to San Jose, I had a gentle word with the manager, who dispatched them within a half hour. Her deft handling of this impressed me-but it does amaze me how thoughtless and rude people can be! We love these inns - some are larger and better equipped, but our experience has been delightful.

we stayed in a carriage house room, and were very pleased as they put in an extra futon for one of the children which meant they didn't have to share the sofa bed.

we all loved the jacuzzi, and the breakfast in the morning was more than adequate. loved the view during breakfast.

we were a little disappointed with the "wine & cheese", but you don't have to eat/drink them !

great gas fire (living flame type) in our room with a couple of relaxing chairs we could pull up by the fire

great location, easy walk to Monterrey Aquarium, and you can also hire bikes and go on the coast trail, which was also fun.

only niggle was that early each morning (about 6:30am) they opened the garage door which was underneath our room - and it woke us up !
