We stayed here on an overnighter. Wanted to stay in Camarillo, but, the ratings for the less expensive motels were not very good so we chose this place based upon the reviews of others at Tripadvisor.com. It's a little ways off the 101, but, then you don't get the freeway noise. The nearby 5-way intersection is somewhat confusing and the neighborhood further down Oxnard Blvd. gets a little run down looking, but, the area immediately around is fairly new mini-malls. The disclaimers on the registration sheet for pets and smoking in a non-smoking room were a little unnerving, but, I was prepared for it based upon reviews by others. I also recognized the names of the staff based upon other reviewers and I can generally agree with them. Our first room was a nice, clean and spacious single king bed with microwave, refrigerator, but, we encountered a problem with no hot water. The desk clerk checked it out while we were at dinner, said there was a problem with the water heater for that block of rooms and switched us to another part of the complex - no problem. Fortunately, we stayed mid-week and the place was not booked solid. The second room had two queens and seemed a little more worn than the first, but, this room had hot water. The bed was a little firm for us, but, not uncomfortably so. The A/C unit was older and noisier, but, similar to units encountered elsewhere. It didn't cool as well until the middle of the night when it got too cold for comfort and we had to turn the cooling down. The low setting did not put out enough air flow and the room felt stuffy. The A/C unit in the first room worked much better and was more quiet. Too bad we couldn't stay there. Vending and ice machine are located in the central gazebo next to the exercise machines. You need your room key to enter the gazebo and also to access ice from the ice machine. Breakfast is in the office lobby. Food fair was pretty much standard with cold cereal, some pre-cooked egg and sausage rounds and bread and pastries, juice, milk and coffee. The staff kept it well stocked and clean. The crowd at most places shows up early around 7:30, but, at this place, the crowd came just before closing at 9. I think some people might have gotten left out. That may be a reflection of the typical clients here as most are probably on pleasure trips as opposed to business. This facility seems well managed, staff is pleasant and we had a pleasant stay. It's not the best Best Western we've ever stayed at (that without a doubt goes to the Pismo Beach locations, but, you pay a lot more there), but, for the money, it's hard to beat.
