The value for the money is great. The food was really good. I love Korean BBQ, and it is hard to find a decent one in Ventura County. This place is clean. Service is a little slow. Other than that, I would definitely return.

Located on the Collection at Riverbank, adjacent to Century movie theaters. This is an all-u-can-eat Korean BBQ that is reasonably priced at $19.99/pp with good quality meat and service.

I've been visiting Oxnard a lot lately for recreational sports fishing, but I find local dining options mediocre to my taste, so Gen is a great addition. I highly recommend Gen for casual dining.

The last time I had Korean BBQ was 30 yeas ago with some Korean friends and it was a memorable culinary experience. We were hopeful that this would be a reasonable recreation of that long lost meal. Having read some of the lukewarm reviews and hearing a not so good review from my daughter who works in the hospitality industry we figured we'd forge on and give it one try in case they were suffering from the newbie syndrome.
So glad we did! The place was packed at 7 PM on a Saturday but we put our name in with the caveat that it would be about 25 minutes maybe more. Sat at the bar, had a glass of wine and were seated in 20 minutes.
Food was great, lots of meat selections and some exotics. Probably not a good find for a vegetarian or vegan but the salad (included in the meal) was ample and savory.
The service was VERY good so they must have gotten the house in order. They do a tag team approach and the servers were aticipitory of your needs and eager to suggest items that you might not try otherwise.
Note*** When they come by and ask if you want a fresh or clean grill say yes as yours is probably getting a bit crusted & smokey. Just be sure to let it heat up a bit before you put the new meats o to sear.
A definite repeat visit!

A great fixed price "All You Can Eat" Korean Barbeque dinner that you prepare at your own table with your own grill for less than $20 per person. Great interesting concept! You can order anything you want to try from the extensive menu from beef to pork to chicken to vegetables and noodles, all with excellent service by a slew of waiters. We were pleasantly surprised not only by the quality of food but the service. We will go back with friends next time.

Gen Korean BBQ is a nice casual dining experience for all.
Food: It is all you can eat which cook the food on a tabletop grill. You can select from approximately 20 cuts of meat (and there is a vegetarian selection). They will bring 4 at a time. The selections range from chicken to small intestines. For the adventurous, you can also select tongue. The beef selections include a kobe type beef.
Ambiance: Contemporary which attracts a younger crowd.
Cost: Set price for both lunch and dinner. Drinks are separate.
Service: Is always around. The grill gets charred and they have a staff constantly circulating to change out the grill top for you.

Go early as the wait can be long. Try to get there before 6 pm.
