“Beautiful autos!”

Mullin Automotive Museum

The Mullin Automotive Museum is tucked away in an industrial park in Oxnard. The collection of mostly French autos from the 1930's and 1940's is spectacular! Even for someone who does not know the technical terms for engines etc., the cars are works of art. The museum is open two Saturdays a month, and well worth a visit.

If you love cars (primarily) from the 1930's, this is the place for you. Although the museum is known for the owner's appreciation of French cars of that era, there is also a number of examples of other cars. A few examples on display are Delehaye, Bugatti, Talbot and Voisin.

All of these cars are housed in a climate controlled, two story building building. There is also an elevator if you cannot climb stairs.

IMPORTANT: There is a message on their website that you need to purchase an advance ticket. I did purchase the ticket and all went well. I'm not certain what the attendants will do if you did not purchase in advance. (I would call if you have questions. The price is about $14.

Whether you are a car buff or an art lover this is a marvelous venue. The atmosphere is serene and stylish and the automobiles are beautiful, aerodynamic works of art. The chance to see some of the world's most historically significant automobiles as well as some unique pieces of French furniture and Art Deco in such a sophisticated environment is definitely worth the trip. We were able to view the amazing Voisin automobile exhibit which will be there through April. The visiting hours are limited (basically two Saturdays a month) so you should check the website for specifics. This is not the sort of museum that would be best suited for young children and strollers are not permitted but my husband and I were thoroughly delighted with our experience and spent about 2 hours exploring all the exhibits.

I love art, and tolerate car museums......and I thoroughly enjoyed this museum...great docents, tour guides and a wonderful collection of Art Deco and french automobiles. There was a special exhibit of Automobiles made by Voisin...will be over soon, but the museum has so much to enjoy with the regular exhibits. Check the website and buy tickets online. Free parking, only open some Saturdays, in an industrial area, no food or drinks available. Children would not be appropriate unless very well behaved and understand why they can't touch anything! Worth a trip from anywhere!

As nice a stop as you can imagine. Everyone from the guard to the docents to the desk people are as pleasant and friendly as can be. The vehicles on display are the top of their class. The French cars of the thirties are so beautiful they must be seen to be believed. The museum is open two saturdays a month for five hours. So you must plan carefully. As Patrick Mullin said as he stood at the door, he loves to come by because everyone is so happy to be there.

Admission is $12 (Seniors $8)

The only thing to beware of is that Peter Mullins still drives many of the cars in the collection and some are always away, so if there is one particular vehicle you must see, it may be advisable to check ahead.
