“Not Our Favorite”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

We used to come here for lunch on the weekend...primarily because there are not a lot of American food places to eat break / lunch in Orinda Village. Little things were bothersome, such as you can order a hamburger, monte cristo, soup, or other hot meals - but they wouldn't serve fries. Mind you, for breakfast, you can get hash browns, but for lunch, no fries - just chips or a super-small side of salad.
It's always busy in there, so I'm sure many love the place. Personally, we'd rather eat at Squirrel's in Lafayette. : )

“Best breakfast in the East Bay....lunch is wonderful ttoo”
Reviewed July 31, 2012 via mobile

We have been have breakfast here for 20 years.....way before their move to larger location. I take family and house guests here because everyone can get EXACTLY what they want. I am a good cook but I can't make four different meals at once. In all these years I have never had anything but excellent food. The ingredients are fresh and exceptional quality. No chemicals making this food taste great.....just good quality food and home cooked quality....only better because it was served by cheerful, eager and considerate staff. I love this place. BTW. Lunch is wonderful too.

Wonderful just-squeezed OJ.
Old-fashioned milk shakes, very generous & flavorful.
Exceptional home-made potato chips.
Yummy 2- or 3-egg omelette.

“great breakfast combos”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

Excellent bacon, corned beef hash with poached eggs and waffles. You can get a waffle instead of toast and potatoes. Yeah!

“The best old-school coffee shop around!”

We've been going to the Village Inn Cafe for years. It's a breakfast favorite during school breaks and the waffles are out-of-this-world!
