We stayed for over a week at this hotel during Christmas, 2013.

First, the decent points...
1. The pool area is kept fairly clean. They do make an attempt to vacuum the pool daily and the hot tub is kept fairly foam free, with the exception of a couple of days for the hot tub. But with the traffic that was in it, it was understandable. The pool is heated to a comfortable temperature.

2. We rented 3 suites. The full kitchen had a fridge that actually worked. Impressive. (Yes...I'm grasping for positives....work with me.)

3. There is a water machine near the lobby that dispenses water that tastes good.

4. There are laundry machines on site. (Albeit very pricey - $4 a load, and only one of each machine for the entire hotel.) The upside is the machines are next to the pool, if you want to watch the kids and the laundry at the same time.

5. Location - it is just a few minutes away from Disney by car and is easily within walking distance to the Outlets at Orange mall. (Now keep in mind you have to walk under the overpass, which is full of garbage, including mattresses, so ensure your door is locked at night. Creepy....)

6. Beds are comfortable; however, they give you two thin pillows and two absolutely massive heavy pillows. You may want to bring one. The standard BW duvets were great.

Now for the bad new....

1. We phoned to confirm our rooms the week before, letting the staff know we were travelling with kids so needed the three rooms close together. We told them we'd be arriving late, due to our flights. They reserved the rooms for us, gave us room numbers and didn't hold the spots. We had rooms on the exact opposite sides of the hotel. Not impressed!

2. When we arrived, we asked if they accepted AMEX gift cards. We were told yes. Ultimately, they were not taken as payment, by the very person who told us yes in the first place. He offered no apology. Given we were wanting to use over $1K in gift cards, we were more than disappointed.

2. The place is shabby, quite run down and dirty. Yes...dirty. The entrance to the pool nearest our room had a gate that wouldn't open all the way. The door drug on the cement, making it impossible/difficult to enter. We had to walk all the way to the other side to enter. The carpets are thoroughly stained. The bathroom started with someone else's hair on the floor behind the door and it never moved in 11 nights so that tells you how thoroughly they clean the floors. The walls in our bathroom looked like someone had tried to paint them, and quit part way through, leaving two colors on the wall. They were also stained.

3. The full kitchen is not very "full". It had one pot, one fry pan, 4 plates, small bowls (ie. dessert or fruit nap bowl), some cups and 3 of each cutlery. There were a few large knives - all extremely dull and couldn't cut anything at all. There were no mixing bowls, wooden spoons, corkscrews, bottle openers, can openers, etc. There is also no salt and pepper, which has been standard in every full kitchen we've ever utilized in the past. We asked at the front desk for the items and we were told we could borrow theirs, but if they weren't immediately returned, they'd be charged to our room. All of the dishes we had were stained, some with crusted on food. There was lipstick on the glasses in the cupboard when we arrived. (The cleaning staff do the dishes for you, so beware of the job that they do.) There were no dish cloths or soap provided on arrival and when we asked for some, to ensure dishes were done well, we were given one cloth at a time.

4. The kids who slept in the 2nd room all got a rash that looked like bug bites.

5. The rooms are very poorly lit and quite dark.

6. All three rooms that we had were extremely poorly ventilated. (First floor, away from the pool area.) You can't leave the air conditioning on without using a room key to do so, meaning get a 3rd key or enjoy the trip with only one per couple. The room was very humid and musty so we needed to use the air conditioning constantly. The air also blows directly on the face of the people in the nearest bed due to the vent location on the wall, and with the dirty vent system, it is no wonder I came home with a bad cold.

In short, we won't be staying again. Whenever we were in the lobby, to request items or when leaving the hotel, there were often patrons complaining, so we knew we weren't alone in our concerns. Best Western really needs to reconsider their Plus status on this one. Just because a bad breakfast is served, doesn't make it "Plus". This is the third time we've stayed at a bad BW hotel - time to re-think what chain we are using obviously. Sad - they used to be a decent family choice.

Room Tip: I would head somewhere else.

I love this place. Its close to the honda Center and Disneland. We can use the buses to travel and its easy to do. its also saves money. Its a great location to everything that is fun. I have stayed here many times since November 2013 and i have to say its larely inpart to the awesome staff at this place. There are excellent people here but the two that stick out in my mind are George who i met on my very first stay. He is very nice. The other would be Nagy is a repair guy. He saw mein the parking lot and tried to cheer me up because i have been feeling really down ever since My best friend's Father died. He when out of his way to make me smile only to find out later thtat i was a guest there. I think its awesome. This is the Best western I prefer the most becuase the staff here are really people oriented. I really love this place because of them. The rooms are nice and the bed are comfortable.
