Can't beat the ski-in ski-out access. We were so close to the lifts that the snow cats kept us awake! Our one-bedroom condo was laid out poorly, with the downstairs bed right by the door. Very plain interior that looks like it hasn't changed much in a long time. Some desk staff weren't knowledgeable and didn't seem eager to help. Nice big fitness room and nice hot tubs. No on-site food, but close to restaurants.

Squaw Valley Lodge was almost perfect for our 6 night stay whilst skiing in January.
We arrived here having left a very average 6 night stay in Heavenly.
We were delighted by the accommodation.
It is very handy for the slopes and is definitely ski in and out.
The apartment was clean, bright and spacious for the 2 of us.
It had a very well equipped kitchen which was wonderful as the previous one was awful.
It felt like a home rather than a grotty camp site!
Only negative to the apartment wa that there wasn't an oven and that the hot water only filled one bath, and only just before water ran out. I think each unit has its own water tank. So if water was fixed and an oven fitted , we would have called this perfect.
It is also a very quiet place which we appreciated, though that may have been because we were on the third floor at the end of the corridor.
We did not have great skiing conditions as it rained our first day which led to very icy slopes on following days, but having good accommodation helped my husband get over his skiing disappointment!
Free covered parking, short walk to village ......
We would most definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Top floor, end of corridor for quietness.

Have stayed at lots of Ski Resorts and this is up there with our favourite (Schweitzer White Pine Lodge). The Lodge is under the Aerial Tram, which is an amazing sight, and it is truly a ski in ski out location when there is snow (we got very lucky and it dumped).
Our family stayed in a 2 bedroom Condo so cannot comment on the other types of options available (and I know there are quite a few). The 2 bedroom Condo was very well appointed and as these are privately owned but have the option to be centrally managed, the internal appointments may be different (not sure). Our Condo though was beautiful right down to the glassware and cutlery. Bedrooms were a great size, Kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and it had a open planned layout so we got to spend quality family time while cooking etc.

Gym is great and Outdoor Spa and Pools are also fantastic, though the heating in them was inconsistent. Paths are kept snow free so easy access. Great place and would stay here again if going back to Squaw Valley.

Stayed at Squaw Valley lodge for 4 nights in January in an open plan studio appartment on the second floor, facing the mountain. The good things about our stay were -

1. Free parking which was also covered
2. Excellent check in, quick and informative
3. Proximity to the Gondolas and squaw village ( 3 minute walk )
4. Cleanliness, amenities, space and quality of furnishings in the room
5. The bath/tub, nice size.
6. Free Wifi (approx 40 mbps)
7. Daily housekeeping

The not so good things were

1. The noise. The room directly above us were having a little party till 3am one night. I think I heard every footstep which made me wonder about the soundproofing, if indeed there was any.

And thats pretty much it for the not so good.

Obviously you are also paying a premium for your location, I think we paid around $230 per night but I thoroughly recommend the resort to anybody that enjoys skiing or boarding as one of the best I have been to.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the mountain are quieter

Last fall I purchased a great deal to stay at the SVL - 40% off, which still kept the rates at almost $400 a night for a studio loft with 2 bathrooms. Is it worth it? If what you want is location and ease of getting to the mountain then yes - it is great for that and that is what you are paying for. Based on price alone the accommodations were not what they should have been - one bed was like sleeping on a brick, one was fine, and both sofa-beds were so old that you could actually see the springs coming through - it was barely functional for just the four of us with the kids trading off sleeping on the folded-up sofa which was the only way it was tolerable, not sure what we would have done if we had maxed out the occupancy. I kept reminding myself I was paying for location and everything else was bonus.
The facility itself is nice and well kept, service is good. The rec room was great for the kids and they had a lot of fun playing ping pong. The pool facility looks great and the spa is big. I just kept feeling like for that amount of money the room should have beds we could sleep in...

From Sue who helped us book our last minute rooms to the helpful front desk and beyond perfect location this is the place to stay. I am tempted not to give away this jewel but they are just to great not to get recognized. Not fancy but perfect for those who love easy access to the mountain and a great east family vacation.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from mountain side rooms because of early morning snow cats.

We stayed here for 5 nights right after Christmas. It was wonderful! We stayed in a loft that was spacious and clean. There are several jacuzzis on the property, a pool, and it is so close to the lifts, village and gondola. I especially loved the 'green' bath product BeeKind! I loved the lotion, shampoo and the fact they were in recycled paper containers. I appreciate the lodge's effort to cut down on plastic waste. I will definitely stay at this lodge again. Highly recommend for couples or families.
