Overall Resort at Squaw Creek is excellent. It has everything you need for a great winter holiday (and I imagine a great summer holiday as well).

Just a few comments, these are not so much criticisms as explanations so you know what to expect.

First, RSC is not in the main Squaw Valley resort. However this doesn't really matter as there is direct access to the ski area and an excellent shuttle bus service to the main resort. Also it's not strictly ski-in/ski-out in the european sense, in that you're not directly on the slopes. However it's less than 100 yards walk from the locker room to the ski lift/bottom of the piste so no complaints on that score. In addition there's a free shuttle from RSC to Alpine Meadows if you want to try a different ski area.

RSC is essentially a complex of different blocks - lobby/restaurants, spa, accommodation, and you have to walk (outdoors) between these blocks. It's a bit more than a short walk from the rooms to the pool area (where there are no changing facilities) so pack your flip-flops! But the pool and hot tubs are worth it.

If you're self-catering there is a small deli on site and a bigger and better one in the main resort (Alice's Mountain Market). But they're both pricey and if you have a car go to the 7/11 at the entrance to the valley.

The four cafes/restaurants are all good - our favourite was the Italian (Montagna) but unfortunately it was only open weekends while we were there. Room service was friendly and efficient.

RSC (and Squaw Valley in general) gets VERY busy at weekends - lots of families with children - but I guess that's the price you pay for going to somewhere so good , it's popular!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and we hope to go back. The only real problem during our stay was that they mislaid my laundry, though I got it back eventually.

Yes, the resort is nice but I would have preferred to stay in the village for the price I paid. Management: You should be upfront with your guests of all your fees! It ruins the whole experience upon check-out to find out all the extra costs!!
There is a $20 valet charge DAILY - BE AWARE of this. There is also a resort fee DAILY of $16.+ taxes. You will need to catch the shuttle if you want to go to the village. Also - this is ski in /ski out ONLY on a blue run - so if your kids are beginners, you will have to take the shuttle to catch another lift to get to the green slopes.

We recently stayed at the Resort at Squaw Creek. The resort overall is beautiful, however there were enough bad expericences that overshadowed the good parts of the resort. Upon check-in we were charged an extra "resort fee" that was unexpected - it was charged again the following day upon check-out, apparently it is a daily charge! When leaving the resort on the shuttle we asked how late the shuttles run - we were told the run every 1/2 hour until midnight. We skiied that evening and had dinner, we then waited for the hotel shuttle and it never came, we called the resort and they didn't answer, we eventually got through to the hotel and they infomed us we needed to call for a ride after 6 - AND you need a specific ride number to call (all of that seems like essential information they should have given us when we asked about the evening shuttle service!). When the driver did come to get us he was clearly annoyed. Overall, I would choose a different hotel next time due to the poor customer service and the unexpected resort fees - I think we would have had just as good of an experience at a MUCH less expensive hotel.

Beautiful resort complete with spa, restaurants, a deli, shopping, outdoor activities galore, skiing in winter and golf in summer. We stay every year without fail. Won't stay anywhere else. They treat you like you are a VIP. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Food is all excellent. Family friendly resort yet great for a romantic getaway for two. You could stay there day and night and never need to leave the resort for anything if you don't want to. Spa is beautiful. Six Peaks Grill is amazing. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Great views from almost any place in the resort whether its your room or in the fitness room or the pub. They have an outdoor ice skating rink, many heated hot tubs and a pool. Outdoor firepits, dogsledding, snowshoeing, you name it they do it. Very clean and relaxing accomodations. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Anyone who can write a bad review of this hotel is NUTS! I have been with my family 2 x's and could be nothing but pleased. The golf Course, the restaurants, accomodations and employees are 5 star. This resort is number 1 with my family.

First let me say I have been staying at the Resort since it opened. This property is in a prime location and has its guests literally handed to them because of it, but come on!

I stayed at the Resort in August while on business and was appalled that the pool had no working bathrooms! Instead, there were (full-to-the-rim) portable toilets located outside the bathrooms for the guests. If you MUST find yourself in a situation where you are accepting guests and allowing them pool access without facilities, you could at least empty to portable toilets DAILY!

My stay last month in February was plagued with bad experiences. First, our room was not available fo check-in, so regristration suggested we go enjoy a drink in the bar downstairs - Sandy's. It was snowing, so all outside bars were closed. When we arrived at Sandy's we were told the bar was full and we would not even be allowed to get a drink and stand. There are no other dining/drinking facilities open on the property. Are you kidding? The great room in the reception area is filled with 250 or so guests that are checking out and waiting for buses. No seats, people sitting on the floor.

We finally get into our suite, which is very adaquate. By this time it is just about dinner. We return to Sandy's Pub for a light dinner only to find a blue rubber band in my salad.

The next evening we decide to go to Montangna. After a long day of skiing we wanted to stay on site and not leave the property, but that proved to be a big mistake. Montangna used to be a fine dining Italian restaurant, now the kids meals are served on plastic trays and the food is the worst I have had anywhere. My husband ordered Manicotti and it was literally uncooked and unedible. The "special" I ordered was Salmon, also uncooked and stinky. Both were returned.

I have never been on a vacation where I have skipped dinner two nights because the food was completely deplorable. What a shame.

This resort essentially has everything you need to fully enjoy a relaxing skiing vacation.
When you enter the resort you are invited in by beautiful views of the mountains and warming fireplaces. Check in was fast and they were very helpful. We stayed in the fireplace suite with valley view. It was well worth the upgrade b/c you have a separate living and sleeping area. You also have room to put all your ski stuff. The fireplace is also nice to dry things by. The bathroom is huge and the bed is very comfortable. In the suite you have a microwave, dishwasher, fridge & cook top - which is very convenient. We only used the microwave & fridge because the food at the three on site restaurants is very good! The deli had drinks & coffee, it was a little over priced but very nice to have.
The ski lift was always open when we were there and it is just steps from the resort. The ski check is on the same level as the lift. They have a shuttle to Alpine Meadows that runs daily. They also have a shuttle that goes into the Village & back every half hour. We used this a lot even though we did have a car to go to the other resorts (such as Northstar (about 30 mins away).
The heated pool & jacuzzi were great after a long day of skiing. There are robes in the rooms so you can wear them down to the pool/jacuzzi and you won't freeze on the way back.
Overall this is an excellent resort and we highly recommend it.

The only compliant we have is completely unrelated to the resort - its that we did not know that they call the snow in Lake Tahoe "Sierra Cement". It really is. Thought I would mention this just in case anyone is reading this and is expecting a ton of powder - I'm sure Lake Tahoe gets powder, but I don't think as much as other places.
