If I could affor it, I will stay always there when I visit Tahoe area. The valley is so beautiful and peaceful. If you think it is too expensive, look for specials and upgrades, some time you can stay there for less than the other lodges in the valley and you get a lot for your money! Free shuttle to the village, free shuttle to Alpine, skating in winter, pool and hot tub all year round, breakfast is a child's delight ( my son, the pickiest in town) says "the place with the best breakfast ever". We will return!

Room Tip: Through their Travel destinations program you can wait list an upgrade.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in September, super-low season, and yet the service didn't skip a beat. This is clearly a very well run resort. We received a bump-up to a large one-bedroom suite, honeymoon gesture by the hotel. The views are incredible for who have golf-side views looking towards Squaw. The food is great, particularly some desert like a oreo or Mississippi mud pie which is decadent. There's a predictable, quality sports bar in the bottom level.
High notes to the spa/gym/sauna, probably the best structure in the place, in addition to the large array of outdoor hottubs and heated pool, definitely the center piece of the place.
Only downside, which comes with the territory, is that it is a large resort complex, so expect huge groups, or weddings, or business conventions or whatever it may be. That being said, the service continued throught predictable.
Finally, it is not a new place (guessing it was built in the 80's, 90's the latest) and this shows a little but stops short of being outdated.
All in all, a quality 4 star (not 5 star, I would say), full-service, semi-luxury place. If you feel you got a good deal on a price, take it an enjoy!

A two night girls weekend was well served at Squaw Creek. The mountain view room was wonderful and very clean. Six Peaks is the sit down restuarant on site and the food was very impressive. The spa and gym are connected and both were clean and very accomodating.

Great views of the mountains from the lobby, and from our 2nd floor room. Loved the 3 room setup--bath area, separate bedroom, and living room complete w/gas fireplace. Also loved the small, but efficient kitchenette and dining area. Appreciate being able to keep my own drinks cold, w/o having to pay a fortune for the usual offerings in the "hotel frig". Could heat up leftovers in the microwave, saving me money on buying more meals.

Room Tip: Higher floors will get a better view.
