We went here for a midweek dinner on one of our 3 nights staying at Squaw. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. The prices were high but the quality of food made the bill quite painless. Would recommend.

Went to Mamasake with a group of friends for dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant was packed so we sat at the bar. Fun atmosphere and great music. Downside: Bartender was more interested in some girls he knew at the bar than taking our order and serving us. Ordered sushi rolls that were mediocre. Also ordered Japanese Grilled Steak - which took FOREVER to come out and when it did - it was cold. It could have been good but wasn't based on the temp of the steak and quality of the sushi rolls. Was recommended by others staying at our resort, unfortunately, probably won't go back to Mamasake!

Stayed for over a week at Squaw Valley and after a few 'hit n miss' encounters with some of the other eateries in the village we found Mamasake.

The food itself - and the presentation - is exceptional and I eat sushi at least 3 - 4 times a week so the appraisal is based on fairly broad experience in this style of cuisine.

The prices aren't cheap but people visiting there have to realise they are in a ski resort so expect to pay 30% - 50% more on virtually everything.

That said, the food truly was exceptional and so well worth the price - so much so nearly every dinner ended being there because it was so good.

I can't praise the sushi chefs there (surprisingly, none were Asian) enough - there skills were exceptional.

Will definitely be returning to eat at Mamasake on our next ski trip to Squaw.

The deal for Happy Hour is a Hand Roll and Beer or Sake for $5. The hand rolls are good and this is a pretty good deal but when you are still hungry, then you have to order from the menu which can be on the high end. They have a separate bar area from the sushi bar area and it seems to be pretty popular.

Edamame to start followed by three maki rolls and a beer. I think around 45 bucks for two people. It was busy, service was quick but there was something lacking in in the quality of the food which I couldn't put my finger on. I think that the sushi is just a bit on the bland side.
Maybe we had been spoiled by the the fantastic sushi we had in Heavenly at the Naked Fish but at the end of the day I would rather have Mamasake as a n option than not.
