Su Nido Inn - Your Nest In Ojai

Great Inn - great location. Very convenient to town. We stayed in the Heron Suite upstairs. Wonderfully clean and well appointed. The kitchenette was outfitted with real silverware and plates, always appreciated. We had the extra treat of a private hot tub on our small deck. Michael came up during the day to check on the tub and add water as needed. A perfect stay.

We have visited Ojai over many years and we have stayed at a variety of hotels but our all time favorite is the Su Nido Inn. It is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Ojai yet quiet and private. We have 'sampled' nearly all the rooms in this boutique style inn and we have always been pleased. Tastefully appointed with the most comfortable mattresses and bedding, Su Nido offers a host of amenties along with friendly service and charming luxury at a great value. We love the Su Nido and will continue to choose it as our 'nest' in Ojai.

We were in Ojai for a wedding weekend. Su Nido Inn was recommended by the mother of the bride. We loved it. We stayed in the Quail room, which I believe is one of the smaller kings. It was perfect for us. We chose it because it opened up to the court. There are little touches that you notice: crystal wine glasses, real spoons and not wooden stir sticks and the Quail theme carried out in the room decor including a mosaic in the shower. We sat out on the courtyard several times during our two night stay, having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the late afternoon. The location was perfect, two short blocks away from the center of town. It's a small boutique inn with no restaurant or other services but who needs them when your are 5 minutes away from more than a dozen places to eat, taste wine or shop. Su Nido Inn is what Ojai is all about. It's romantic; a good couples retreat.
Keep in mind that this is an inn and not a hotel - it has inn keeper, not a front desk. I noticed a negative review from another visitor who was disappointed that the inn keeper was not "in" when they arrived. Our observation was that the inn keeper was very responsive. Another couple left their key in the room after hours, they called the inn keeper and he arrived a few minutes later to let them in.

We got there at 1:15, hoping for an early check in. Were greeted by a sign on the door, stating
OUT TO LUNCH - CHECK IN IS AT 3:00. YOU ARE WELCOME TO WALK AROUND THE TOWN AND COME BACK AFTER 3:00.

The hotel is on a busy street, with a stop sign right outside our window. Then to add insult to injury, we paid EXPEDIA $266 for the 1 night stay. Then the motel billed our credit card for $186.00 Who knew that EXPEDIA was MORE expensive than the motel itself. What a rip off $77. That's a dinner. No gym or pool

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel. This is not an INN at all. More like a motel

We had heard some great things about this little town of Ojai. But I can tell you the only two good things about the town is the Su Nido and the huge outdoor bookstore, Bart's. The Su Nido Inn is in the perfect location for walking to everything and at night their great courtyard is a great place to wind down with a drink. (no bar, we had a bottle on hand). The front desk was courteous and pleasant and the off street parking is handy. A real good hotel in all points and would recommend it to anymore. The only problem is that aside from a stellar outdoor bookstore, I can't think of another reason to ever go back to that strange place. It was like it wanted to be something but couldn't quite get there. The energy is just all wrong. I did like the main street department store and some of the old relics of architecture from the town's glory days. The public park is an absolute head hanging shame. The homeless and hungry and crazy dominate the scene. There was a man there pushing a cart of crumpled bedding around in a circle with a gash so deep and long in his head I could see clearly right into his skull that he was beyond crazy. I know it's taboo on the West coast to talk like this, what with all the bleeding hearts wobbling around in their socks and flipflops, but for the love and betterment of all humanity, something has got to be done! Oh, and the restaurant Azu, only made things worse, the service was on par with buying a used car in a sleazy auto mart on a busy highway in a rundown part of town. They want way more of your money than what they have to offer in exchange. That said, Good Luck to Su Nido, great place in a less than great town.

I have just returned from my second visit to Su Nido Inn in Ojai. I stayed in the Cardinal Suite and it was truly a delightful two-day respite from city life. What I especially love is how immaculate everything is. This is something that makes or breaks a hotel or inn for me. You will notice also that the suites are exactly as portrayed in the photos online; there is no photo retouching. Michael, the innkeeper is so gracious and always makes sure guests have everything they need for restful and enjoyable stay. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: If you have any type of physical mobility issues, try the Blue Jay suite. The bathroom is handicapp...

Wow, this hotel did not disappoint!
Let me count the ways: Friendly staff, 2 blocks from the town center, which includes great shops and restaurants. The interior courtyard leading to all rooms is lovely with a beautiful fountain. The Peacock room was immaculate with a kitchen stocked with snacks, water and juice, microwave, refrigerator and toaster. There is a living room with a fireplace, sofa and table, galley kitchen and nice sized bedroom. The bed and bedding were comfy! The bathroom has everything you need including a shower and deep tub! The Hacienda decor is inviting, not your standard oatmeal, jazzed up with color! This room is right next to the parking lot which had plenty of foot traffic so we felt we couldn't leave the shades or the windows open. There is no pool, but the exterior grounds are immaculate and each room has either a balcony or table and chairs outside the front door on the courtyard. We will definitely return to this lovely haven, we felt the value was here compared to the big hotel spas in the area! Gracias Su Nido!

Room Tip: I think I would avoid the peacock room next trip because it's adjacent to the parking lot.
