I have stayed at the Hummingbird four times already, and will keep coming back. Great value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean, beautiful and comfortable. Bed is very comfortable. Shower/bath is not very modern, but the water pressure is strong for a great shower.Breakfast is simple, self-service, includes, coffee/tea, cereal, oranges, orange juice, bagels and waffles.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the reception. Ground floor rooms are more luminous (as they have floor to c...

My husband and I chose Ojai and The Hummingbird Inn for a two night midweek getaway because of a special rate offer, and we were generally satisfied with our choice. Our room was cute & comfortable for the price we paid, but I would have wanted more amenities and luxury if we'd paid anymore. Light "wood" (laminate) floors and painted white headboard and bedding gave our King room an airy, modern, country feel. The bed was extremely comfy, and the bathroom was fine. We also had a patio, but we didn't use it due to rain. A couple of minor issues were that the floor squeeked when you walked across it (as if it hadn't been installed quite right), and the A/C-heat unit was so noisy when it cycled on and off that we finally got up and shut it off. The girls at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful, but the included breakfast wasn't that great -- mostly wheat products, which I don't eat, and neither my husband nor I liked the coffee. The one exception was the fresh, squeeze-it-yourself orange juice, which was absolutely delicious, and the retro-style lobby area they serve breakfast in is cute and bright. We used the spa one night, and that was nice and clean & hot. All in all, a cute and clean little place if you aren't looking for much more than that.

Room Tip: Not sure if all their rooms have been remodelled. I'd be sure to ask about that if I stayed the...

It's the small things that make a big difference sometimes, and this hotel delivers. From the clean spacious room, to the complimentary wine and chocolate, to the friendly staff, this hotel was a pleasure to stay at. Great location, nice atmosphere.

If you are to stay here, just know you will get a nice room with new furniture. New sheets, hot water, pool, towels without holes, pillows that have a little life, you will not get. Oh and the complimentary bikes have no life in them either. We had a lower negotiated rate, which was still to high for this place. It's only if there is no where else to stay. No one asked how our stay was or anything. We are in Ojai all the time and gave it a try. We are staying elsewhere on the next trip.

We stayed for two nights in the middle of the week. The first night, I believe we were the only ones there. The room was a nice size, but the desk and chair were rickety. They claim to have Internet service, but it didn't work well. My biggest gripe was that they don't have a coffee pot in the room. We had already been told that they don't serve breakfast until 7:30, so we went out and bought a coffee pot for the room. My husband went at 7:30 for the breakfast and there was a sign that said "We will be back at 8:00"
Overall the room was clean, bed was comfortable, quiet place, but we would have liked a coffee pot in the room, Wi-Fi, and breakfast when they say it will be.

This inn was not worth the price we paid for it.
--The A/C failed to keep the room a comfortable temperature and it rattled and buzzed like crazy. I had a hard time sleeping with it on.
--The bed frame was loosening at its joints, so it squeaked and shifted all night.
--The pool apparently failed to pass CA regulations, so we couldn't use it while we were there.
--The continental breakfast was pretty good, but not spectacular.
All around, this place was average, and it should have been cheaper than it was.

A cute "refurbished" motel with below average bathrooms and limited towels.
We stayed here over labor day weekend for a wedding, in one of the rooms with a patio. Luckily, our patio furniture was nice, though some others we saw were all ripped up and nasty. It seems each room is different and some more updated than others. The main room was cute, but the bathroom was nasty with mold spots, old toilet, rusty/grimy fixtures, etc. The most annoying part was that they didn't have enough towels for everyone staying at the hotel. To begin with, they were like sandpaper, and the one I got had a huge rip in it. After they cleaned our room the 2nd day, they didn't leave any towels, so I told the front desk, and she said it would be 40 minutes. The next morning, we still had none, so I asked again and she said they didn't have any to give me. I had to wait 2 more hours for them so I could finally take a shower. She said it happens when they are booked-- so why can't they just buy more towels?!? Everything else about the hotel was ok/average.

Room Tip: Each room is different, some more updated than others, the one we were in had a good main room but n...
