The Emerald iguana is a four start property that knows it's a four star resort in a five star setting. I recommend EI for getting away and working on a project, rekindling romance, or just forgetting about your life in Los Angeles and relaxing.
The Resort grounds are exquisite: cottages and villas that are very tastefully decorated! all unique in their own right. The pool size is just right for a bed and breakfast and the hot tub was warm and inviting. The resort is nestled in an area where an array of our feathered brethen provide some musical accomneyment to your novel or card game. Squirrels abound and a resident/non resident cat! (The feline is not the resorts but a neighboring cat that likes to hang out here). Plenty of trees complete the ambience.
Our room was cricket and it's a failsafe. Situated in the back of the property (which is a good thing considering the gravel parking lot encircling the front of the resort) and it was two stories. Complimentary internet, four patios (yup), full kitchen stocked with every appliance you could want (unless you demand the Keurig), and so e comforting other amenities.
Breakfast is served, rather placed, poolside. You don't have the option to have anything cooked to order here or really anything hot. If you have any proteins or meat for breakfast you are out of luck here. The breakfast was well stocked with all sorts of decent teas, coffees, and chocolates. Breads and fruit are abundant as well. Other than the pool, this is pretty truly the extent of the B And B. Service is casual and friendly, which I guess is what the owners want and the ladies who run the resort seem to do a good job of staying casual. Don't expect any "of course sir, or yes sir" or even to be called by your last name, you are in Ojai remember.
The staff is alright. We saw them at check in and never saw them until we left again the following day. We were briskley walked to our room and when we asked about breakfast we were told merely "don't worry, it's nice". I don't remember who walked us over but they explained in rote fashion a bit about the amenities of the room/resort. EI also promised to call us when the room was ready since we arrived early but they did not end up calling.
All in all, a true four star resort that tries to be a four start resort! Value is decent at approx $250 a night. Mid week should be cheaper but their occupancy seemed high so I digress.
