The location can't be beat, the house is very nice and clean, and the back porch and yard are excellent for breakfast, happy hour, and hanging out. The inconsistency was with the innkeepers. We arrived last Monday, stayed for 3 nights. The innkeeper upon our arrival gave us a really quick tour of the house. We came to Ojai almost on a whim, and were very interested in suggestions for things to do, restaurants, etc. We were disappointed that the innkeeper didn't seem interested in talking to us. An hour later was happy hour. Wine, cheese, crackers, and a few berries were put out, this was fine. But about halfway through the hour, the plates were practically empty and not refilled (looked really bad). Another guest went back in for another glass of wine, and came out to report that the white was all gone. So we were a little concerned at first. The next morning, the same innkeeper was responsible for breakfast, no problem, it was just okay. Still no interest in interacting with us though. For our 2nd happy hour, a different innkeeper, totally different experience. She was warm, welcoming, and shared great information. The food was better and she was on top of things, no shortages. She also made a great breakfast the next morning. For the 3rd happy hour, back to the first innkeeper, with only a few guests staying that night. No problems, but no interaction either. Then for the 3rd breakfast, a 3rd innkeeper! She made a wonderful breakfast, and was a pleasure to talk to. So 3 innkeepers in 3 days, and each seems to do their own thing. We also didn't care for the tip jar for the cooks at breakfast. At a b&b? We stayed in the Garden Room, very small (but nice to have) balcony overlooking the yard/garden, walk-in closet. Plenty of parking, and nice to have Rainbow Bridge healthy supermarket (and eatery) right across the street.

Catherine and Diane - Best girlfriends! This marks the 18th year of our special Ojai getaway trips. Our stay continues to exceed our expectations after all these years! From the staff, to the food, to the ambiance, and to the continual VIP treatment we receive, we feel so blessed to continue to be able to create our memories in our special place at The Lavender Inn, Ojai, California!

Needed a quick get-outta town trip and Okai seemed like the place to hit. We were told our room, "The Pink Moment" was available at 2 pm. We arrived at 1:30, and we were told our room was ready. This room is so cute, with a little porch off the white sparkling clean bathroom. My daughter and I both brought good books and spent each morning reading on the porch. Sunday morning church bells sounded and played Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Coffee at 8am, please....And it's perfect. Breakfast at 9am and it's pure deliciousness. There are plenty of ways to spend your time in Ojai. We went to the Ojai Acquatic Center for a swim.and before you know it, it's cocktail hour at 5p with wine and delicious hors d'oerves.
I mean this was the most relaxing vacation I never knew I needed.
Everything about the Lavender Inn brought a feeling of relaxation. Spotless clean and wonderful sheets in the bed.
Next time I go I want to stay in another room, for a different experience....and view.

Really can't recommend it enough.

Room tip: Ask for the rooms which have porches for a nice morning coffee and read.

Lavender Inn was a wonderful spot for our recent visit to Ojai. The location can't be beat located in the heart of Ojai and close to most shops, restaurants, park, etc. The inn is gorgeous and the room was spacious, comfortable and had lovely appointments. We had a small balcony that was a nice extension of our room. The gardens are lovely and the breakfasts are quite delicious! Innkeepers friendly and helpful. We would most definitely stay here again when visiting Ojai.

Staff was lovely and made every attempt to satisfy guests dietary needs in the delicious breakfasts in the morning and the wine and tapas each evening. The rooms are small but that is compensated by the very spacious outdoor spaces and patios and the comfortable communal living and dining areas indoors. The proximity to downtown Ojai is also a plus
