This "inn" is nothing but a renovated motel. The website photos are utterly misleading and it's unbelievable that they charge $300/night for a room that should be about $75/night. I recommend ponying up to stay at the Ojai Spa or trying to find a B&B. The high-speed internet didn't work either and the front desk staff didn't try to fix it. We were sorely disappointed in this place.

We had high anticipation for Chantico after researching all the local hotels for our first family trip to Ojai and a one night get away. The rooms were great, pricing decent and front desk hospitality was warm up through check in. They also offer a complimentary wine hour at 5 pm. But beware, the front desk leaves at 10 pm and you need to call an offsite telephone to get help (e.g. your room key doesn't work). In our case, a bunch of loud younger adults checked in and made lots of noise out by the pool and jacuzzi area well after 10 pm; I believe one of the girls didn't have a swim suit on either. After trying to quiet them down at 10:30, they took their party in the room and continued the noise there. I called the "emergency" number a few times to have this taken care of, but the calls went to voice mail. We went down to their room and saw 5 plus people and a few were smoking some kind of pipe thing (they claimed it wasn't pot); we threatened to call the police unless they quieted down. They finally did, but we lost precious hours of sleep for our one night vacation and even our kids heard the commotion. Next morning, the front deck agent appologized and promised to look into it. We've not heard back from Chantico since. In the future, any hotel we stay at will have some kind of night security and a phone number just won't suffice.

We spent one night in Ojai and decided on the Chantico primarily for cost and location reasons. The hotel is situated within an easy 5 to 10 minute walk into downtown Ojai. Although it is next to the main road, our room was at the far end so we didn't hear any traffice noise.

And the room...wow!! We stayed in the Lion Suite which was stunning. Fireplace, huge jacuzzi tub, comfy bed...what more could you want?? It was both luxurious and comfortable. I would highly recommend it.

Nice exterior, but the room was a nightmare!
VERY small, sink in the bedroom, no closet or stand to put suitcases on... old stained cloth furniture, shutters that didn't close, clunky bed with cheap sheets and cheesy blanket!
When booking, they will say "king suite," which will turn out to be a cracker box... only 1 housekeeper and I think she is overworked as the room was filthy! Also odd, creepy assortment of decorations that didn't match!
