This was a wonderful place to eat! I found this place via Urban Spoon on a recent trip to San Diego. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely, try the omlette with the guacamole and chicken machaca! Yummy!! i now know where to return on my next trip to Southern California!

This is a weekend favorite when the weather is good because the dog can come along. There is always a wait, but its so worth it! Servers are all happy, and the food is delicious!

So Tripadvisor said this was great, and we were on the way to LA from San Diego. Easy to get to, but you'd never know it was there without a tip. Unassuming little place with a crowd spilling out onto the sidewalk around the strip mall. There were neighbors and families, great food, friendly fast service and wonderful surf 'n skate decor. We've never seen so many servers and kitchen help in such a small restaurant, which explains why even on a Saturday morning at 9 AM a "just 10 or 15 honey" wait really is just 10 or 15 minutes. Banana Crunch French toast, fresh squeezed OJ, vanilla coffee, and my husband's "On Fire" mix in with the famous coffee cake were all fantastic. This is the only place that has brought me dark golden brown bacon (instead of blackened) when I asked for "crispy". The staff is having such a good time, the guests are too. Forget the chain restaurants on the I-5 and head to the Beach Break. You won't be sorry!

We always eat at beach Break Cafe on the drive from San Diego to LA: you can have breakfast at any time but the lunches are spectacular too- huge bowls of soup, the fresh, spicy fish tacos, the fabulous sandwiches. You can easily see the workers in the kitchen chopping fresh ingredients and they are generous with the avocadoes and the yummy applewood smoked bacon: Gary and Zell Dwelley are sticklers for quality. Don't miss the fresh tangerine juice, if available, and ALWAYS save room for Zell's coffeecake; pure and simple, the way coffeecake is supposed to be. Our family with 3 teengers and 2 parents orders 3 or 4 plates of food and we still can't finish it all!
