Owner description: Longest wooden pier on California coast at 1941 feet, 1/3 of a mile, there is a convenience store half way out stocked floor to ceiling with fishing pole rentals, bait, tackle, snacks and beverages, and a whole lot of souvenir's stuffed into a 7X15 foot space. Ruby's 50's diner is located on the end with breakfast to burgers and a view to die for. The pier it self is open 24 hours a day 7days a week

If you come to Oceanside or are passing through, make time to stop and walk the pier. It is a gorgeous walk to the end. Don't wear heels!! Be prepared - walking the pier is a tiny bit treacherous but worth it. Not that its not safe, it is plenty safe but not if you have difficulty walking or don't have the right shoes. At the end is a Ruby's diner which has excellent food. Not hungry? Fine, get one of their famous shakes or malts. You will always see wildlife - dolphins, fish, birds, etc. Lots of locals fish off the pier to catch their dinner. Don't be in a hurry - take your time and enjoy the beauty of this landmark.

This pier is just a pier: used for fishing and walking. We truly enjoyed our late afternoon walk down its length. We watched people catching sardines and bonitas while we lazily walked in the sun. There was great surfer watching as well. This is a very rewarding hour to spend.

When we return to Oceanside each trip a walk on the beautiful pier is always a must. The view looking back at the shoreline is fantastic and always fun to compare from what it looked like years and years ago.

We have been coming to Oceanside since I was a little girl. We have witnessed so many changes on the Strand and the Pier. When a big storm damaged the Pier the citizens and anyone who loved the Pier donated to help restore it and that's how we got our names etched in the wood railings. We love fishing on the Pier and eating at Ruby's.The Pier is one of the highlights when we come to vacation in Oceanside.

I walked all around the pier and looked at everything in the evening as well as in the daylight hours. Both times it was wonderful, at night with the lighting and sounds of the water and people enjoying themselves, it made for a very pleasing atmosphere!!!
