Owner description: Founded in 1986, the California Surf Museum mission is to preserve surfing heritage. The museum hosts a variety of cultural events from book signings to lectures, to movie nights to concerts. But the museum is most known for the wonderful rotating exhibits about surf and skateboard culture, art, and history. The whole family is welcome and you don't have to surf or skateboard to enjoy the museum. The California Surf Museum has been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic, the BBC, the American Pickers "California Dreamin'", Hawaiian Airlines commercial, PBS "Getting Away Together" and many more. Don't miss the outdoor Secret Spot and Bethany Hamilton's surfboard while you are here. Also, shop the Museum Store for unique gifts and souvenirs. Joining as a member is a great way to get involved in volunteer opportunities and to support the museum on an annual basis. Hope to see you soon!

Anyone interested in the history of surfing or wave sports must stop by here. The new location and building are amazing! The eclectic mix of items on display from boards to photos to articles will keep you busy for an hour or two or more. The location is great near the Pier and downtown Oceanside with a great Old California beach town vibe. enJoy!

They moved their location and now charge money to get in, and in my honest opinion it was not as good as when it was at the former location on PCH, it seems as if less was displayed and it is not a funky as the old location was.

Lots of displays of surfboards and skateboards and their history. Had a great time talking with the man at the desk who was very knowledgable.

I guess I expected more...it was Ok. Maybe you have to be a surf maven to truly appreciate it. I think it could be hyped to be more exciting. Surfing is such an exciting endeavor that i always admire.
