“Dumpy little house but really good food”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

This is an organic cafe with quality food. They own a farm and grow a lot of their own fruit and veges locally. I'm a carnivore, but they re vegan friendly. Go for the Frittata

“We liked....”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Menu is awesome, but we must have had an off morning here. Explained to server that we could not have butter on toast, etc., but it still came out oily, etc. Service was a little slow. We wished we could have tried to eat here again, as the menu was so diverse and intriguing, but we ran out of time.

Very charming environment.

“Good Food Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

This place is super cute and has great food at reasonable prices. The menu has a wide variety of things and it is a certified green restaurant. There are a number of tables inside and out. We ate lunch out on the patio next to the coy pond. About half the tables were full, yet they are well spaced, and placed very well so you don't feel crowded. Staff were very nice and helpful. We were a bit confused when we first arrived because the main desk is around the corner when you first walk in and we weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or if anyone knew we were there. Only downside of the patio was the flies. The restaurant was very clean but as to be expected there are bugs outside. We were warned by the staff that there are flies on the patio, but boy did we underestimate the warning!

“Delicious fish, a yummy vegan meal, and a slow start”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We had stopped at the sushi place next door to the Hill Street Cafe (The Fish Joint), but we didn't realize until we were there that sushi was all they had. The staff suggested that we try Hill Street Cafe, under the same owners. We arrived early (~5 p.m.), were seated immediately (only one other party in the place), and ordered a beer. We waited about 15 minutes before the waiter returned to say they were having a problem getting the beer I had order to pour. Since the place was mostly empty, that seemed a long time wait without any communication. I ordered a different beer and we ordered our meals then too (just in case...). The beer arrived promptly and the food arrived rather quickly after that too. I had ordered snapper but received yellowtail. (Sometimes yellowtail refers to snapper. But since they listed snapper separately on the menu, I assume yellowtail referred to any of the other myriad species that are also called yelllowtail.) I decided the yellowtail was fine and, indeed, it was delicious--grilled with a simple herb & oil sauce. The mashed potatoes were superb as well--simple and with small lumps of potato and small pieces of skin, which is just how I like them. My husband ordered the spicy tofu (vegan), which was beautifully and colorfully presented with several side dishes, and all of them were stunningly tasty. Neither of us is vegan, but this dish could change that!

Prices for both dishes were reasonable--the fish was ~$16 and the tofu, ~$9. A very good value for the meal, despite the slow start.
