After hearing quite a bit of local buzz about this place we finally decided to try it. We did not have a reservation and we dined on a Tuesday night around 7:00 PM. We were seated without a wait and had a table inside on a raised level. From our table we overlooked the patio dining area and beyond that the Oceanside Pier and the pacific ocean. Very nice!
Our waitress came by right away and brought menus and water and then proceeded to ignore us for 20 minutes. We kept trying to get her attention so we could order. My husband was getting up to go to the bar and order a bottle of wine - since he was tired of waiting - and the waitress suddenly appeared. We ordered a bottle and before she could disappear again we ordered our dinner choices.
The food was very slow in coming out. Considering the dining room was half empty it seemed a long wait. That being said, I ordered the filet mignon with grilled onions on top. It came with a side of garlic mash that was delicious, light and creamy. The steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious. My husband had the Rainbow Trout which came with a side of creamed spinach. We have no complaints and only praise for the food.
Time for dessert.... what... NO CHOCOLATE? How can a restaurant not have anything with chocolate on the dessert menu? We therefore skipped dessert and enjoyed an after dinner drink. I chose a lemon drop martini and it was perfect.
Our bill for a bottle of wine, dinner for 2, and 2 martinis came to $147.00 Add a 20% tip and dinner totaled $177.00
Will I go back? Probably. My tip of the day is to make reservations and request patio seating. Get there before sunset so you can enjoy the beauty of the universe. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant, engaging and friendly. But the service was slow.
