“Explore the rich history”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

The mission has a rich history for the region. See artifacts on the way the early settlers lived; read their history. There is constant work the mission is preserved for future generations. The presentations around the museum are well documented. Enjoy the grounds and the stories that it holds.

“Worth the detour!”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Welks Resort. We were driving along Rt. 76 toward the coast and didn't expect to see this Mission. We ended up spending an hour or so touring the mission and the grounds around it. It is worth going to as there is a museum and lots of history to be learned.

“Lovely”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

Friendly monk Peter and his parrot told us all about the mission. We were able to wander around the grounds, cemetery and chapel quietly. A very peaceful place.

“The King of Missions”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We were totally impressed with the mission. It is so big and beautiful. We learned a lot about the area. We spent several hours enjoying the area in the beautiful weather. We learned a lot while we were there from all the helpful volunteers who are so dedicated to the mission.

The largest of California's 21 Missions. It has been restored with lovely grounds and interesting self-guided tour.
