The better half of the hotel seems to be sold as timeshare, since there are very few people here and all the rooms are booked on the ocean-side. Tried changing the room, as on the non-ocean side it is impossible to sleep other than during the 4-5 hour period when the train is not going right outside the windows. No breakfast either.

We visited this hotel as part of the "discovery" program through Wyndham. The hotel is beautiful, and we were treated very well by the staff. Our room was ocean view and the first morning we woke up to see whales swimming in the ocean! However, my husband signed us up for a free breakfast to review our experience with Wyndham, "45 minutes, tops" we were told. 3+ hours later, our 3 girls were bored and whiny (so were we), and we were irritated that we had been naive enough to believe it would t be a full in time-share sales pitch. Even though we repeatedly told them we already owned a beautiful condo in cabo, the woman continued to try to persuade us to buy. After we got out of that waste of time, we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay. The few things that I wished for: a convenience store on site - there is a small store across the railroad tracks a few blocks away, not a terrible walk, but sometimes it's nice to just wander down from your room in your sweats to grab some wine :). A more casual dining option - there is one restaurant on site, but it was very high end and not family friendly, even a few hotel employees told us it wouldn't be their first choice. Poolside service - they would have made a LOT of money off me had I been allowed to order drinks and food from my lounge chair! And our family of five stayed in a two bedroom suite, plenty of room for sleeping, however, the main area was set up odd, with not enough room to just sit around and watch a movie (after playing all day it was nice to come back to the room and relax).
Other than these things, we really enjoyed our time there and the town is cute and close to so many other destinations - check out temecula if you are into wine tasting!

The property is terrific. Recently updated, the unit we had, #304 a two bed two bath with a full kitchen, was very nice. TV’s everywhere, DVD player in living room, small balcony with a table. There is free parking and wi-fi, which should be a must in any hotel. It is a Wyndham property so you will probably be approached to join the ‘club’, that’s up to you. It seemed to be more of long term stay facility vs, a nightly hotel, but that may be too fine a point The train blew by at regular hours but that didn’t seem to be as annoying as the trash pick up at 6am on the north side of the property. Everyone working there seemed to be very friendly and willing to help. Oceanside makes a nice base to check out San Diego to the south and LA to the north. Disneyland is but an hour away.

Room Tip: North side has trash pick up @ 6

My wife and I stayed at this resort for a week on the 6th floor with a Ocean Front room. What a view!! We we were treated wonderfully by the staff and had a great time. The resort is spotless and easy access to the pier. There is a great restaurant on the main floor that is not connected with the resort. If you are a Wyndham owner I highly recommend this resort, if you are a paying visitor you will enjoy the resort. The biggest negative thing is the trains. Yes there is a ton of trains that go through Oceanside and they blow their horn all the way through town. It is not the fault of the resort, the tracks were there long before the resort was. The resort does offer ear plugs, they are in a bowl on the front desk, grab a few,

Room Tip: Ocean front faces the ocean. Ocean front rooms give you both an ocean from view from the kitchen, f...

Wyndham Oceanside is one of my favorite resort in S. Calif. The weather is perfect, the rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious room, well equipped kitchen, relaxing atmosphere and the staff is excellent. I do not recommend attending the sales timeshare rep because the person we spoke with was quite pushy. Overall I rate this place Excellent minus the sales rep.Oh, and they are trying to improve and make their free internet access.

We stayed here while visiting my son and his wife. They had just had there 1st child! This hotel is laid wonderfully and has secure underground parking. The staff were very friendly and worked with us on getting an upgrade to our room. It is a resort that you can buy a membership to and they give 1st time visitors a chance to learn about that as well (aka sales presentation). You do have the option to say no. It is located on the beach, in fact the pier is right out front. Our room did not face the ocean but was still interesting. You had a good view of all the typical California architecture and one more thing... the commuter trains. Believe it or not, sound was not a problem. If we had chose to, we could have hopped the train to San Diego or LA. I will definetly stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and a jacuzi.

We've been to several Wyndham resorts and have always had good experiences and enjoyable stays. This location in Oceanside provided one of the best overall experiences. While the weather was chilly even for January the resort staff created warmth from the moment we arrived for our 2 week stay. They were quick to react to any concerns we had and did it with a smile. Impressive. The rooms were bright and clean. We had a 3 bedroom ocean view suite that was perfect for our family vacation. We were surprised that there were plans to refurbish the rooms with a darker motif similar to the resort at Orlando. The brighter rooms were much better and felt more resort-like versus an urban hotel. Make no mistake about the trains. They are there and they are frequent but not nearly the annoyance we expected. Being Oceanside is critical though.

The area is wonderful. Friendly people and lots of good retail within walking distance including a seaside cafe just east of the resort. Best latte I've had in a long time. The Pier and Ruby's restaurant were favorites of our young kids. Watching the surfers was great entertainment. I'd recommend this resort subject to the items above.
