“Nice and Clean Hotel/Resort - Well Located”
Reviewed October 29, 2011

We took a weekend trip to this hotel/resort (being a Wyndham owner, and living in Los Angeles), with another family, so we could take the kids to Sea World for a day, and not spend most of our time driving to and from San Deigo.

The hotel/resort is nice and clean, with a friendly staff. Our 2BD room was also nice and clean, with a partial ocean view (facing south in the South Building). The room was not as large as some other Wyndham 2BD rooms, but comfortable for our purpose.

I call it a hotel/resort, because they refernce the property as a resort, but if you are thinking it will be like a "resort" - that it not really the case. I would say that it is an above average hotel, with some resort amenities. Because of the season, we did not get to maximize our use of the pool or beach (across the street), so I cannot really comment on that aspect.

The hotel/resort is in a prime location (considering the City you are in), at the end of the local pier, across a small street from the beach, and blocks from the main "strip" in the area, and a few blocks from the Amtrack train station. This is a small town, and not a resort city, so there are not very many amenities in the city as a whole. Average restaurants, lots of bars, and lots of barber shops (being close to some military bases and home to good number of military peronnel).

I would say that of the choices around, this is one of the best (if not the best or only one of its kind). The city however, is not somplace I would really spend a week's vacation however, unless I planned on just going to the beach across the way, and hitting a couple of San Deigo attractions (about another 35 miles south). Nothing special as far as sights, restaurants, or nightlife in Oceanside if those are some of your plans.

The major bad point here (also a good point depending on how you look at it), is the proximity to the train station. Depending on where your room is, the sound of the train may get annoying. Our room did not get too much of the noise because of its location, especially with the windows closed - but I cannot say it would be the same for all rooms.

I would probably stay here again with the kids for another weekend trip, so we could visit a San Diego attraction one day, and hang out the beach the other, and then drive back home. Might even take the train down to avoid the drive back and forth.

By the way, they have their own parking garage, at no cost. They also have a few restaurants in the ground floor if you do not want to venture into the town.

Nice condo style hotel.  Late checkin time, 4pm, made even later by the room not being ready. Finally checked in @445 without sufficient apologies. Nonetheless, very friendly concierge. Other guests - families or retired - appear to be very happy.  Outside the hotel, there is a small street to cross and about 30 or so steep steps before you hit the sand.  The lot next to the hotel was under construction. The area did not appear safe enough to be walkable.  The beach is nice - actually, gorgeous. However, for my taste, i prefer the quieter side of the harbor and the river.  Had stayed in NCV before and it is quieter and you can walk to the harbor and to its several restaurants.
I probably wont be coming back to this hotel.

My family of six stayed for five nights over Labor Day weekend and had a pleasant stay. The hotel is in an excellent location, right on the beach by the pier and close to the cute downtown shops. The suite we stayed in had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining table and living area, plus a small balcony. Our room was in the back corner so did not face the ocean but out to the parking lot which was fine because we didn’t spend much time in the room. I stayed in the smaller bedroom which was very small but the bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet. The bathrooms were a good size but the water pressure was awful! You had to pretty much double your shower time in order to wash all of the shampoo and soap off. The other complaint was that even though we didn’t even use the kitchen sink, the garbage disposal gave off the most disgusting smell. We were invited to breakfast since the hotel is part of a timeshare which we belong to and they wanted to go over our timeshare information. The food was ok but cold even though it was placed in heated serving dishes but I guess you can’t complain when it’s free. Overall, our hotel stay was good and it was great to have a suite that could house the whole family.

The town itself, isn't the nicest, but the hotels location to the beach is perfect, it couldn't get better. Near the boardwalk. There is an AMAZING sushi place near it, called Harney Sushi, this is the best sushi I have ever eaten. It is also close to a movie theater.

This property is only 4 years old. Everything you would need is in the unit with full kitchen...including full size coffee pots and coffee...wine opener, glasses, etc.It is wonderful if you don't mind the train directly behind the building...my hubby is a light sleeper but he didn't have a problem..so it is very much a personal issue. The only REAL negative comment would Wyndham really wants you to go to their "INFORMATIONAL" meeting...say NO right away if you know for sure you don't want to go. I left it open but hubby said no..I should have called rep back so we wouldn't have heard our phone ring the morning they wanted us to go (8am).

Staff was friendly and somewhat helpful, but what really spoiled the trip was the lack of sleep because of the trains. During the week the commuter trains come by every 15 or 20 minutes, and they let you know they are there, by the excess use of the horn(in my opinion) even after the commute time, there are cargo trains about every 60 to 90 minutes all night long. The hotel is very accommodating by the fact they do supply foam ear plugs on the night stands of all the room that face the tracks. If you do stay here get a guarantee when you make the reservation that you are not overlooking the train tracks. We did leave a day early so we could come home and get some sleep before going to work on Monday

Room Tip: Make sure you reserve a room on the ocean side of the hotel, if they can't give you a room the o...

We just got back from spending a week at this resort. We had a great time. We booked a two bedroom oceanfront room , it was so nice. Spacious enough for the 4 of us and how great it was to wake up each morning to the Pacific Ocean! Our room had 2 balconies which we took full advantage, just sitting sipping coffee and taking in the beautiful view. The ammenities were first rate.

What really gives this place 5 stars was the staff. Everyone was quick with a greetting, we made 2 or 3 calls to guest services for something we needed and our requests were always filled within 10 minutes, always with a follow up call to make sure we received our request.

We had a great week and cannot wait to stay here again.
