The Inn was so peaceful with a touch of old fashion hospitality. The folks there made you feel so comfortable, breakfast was outstanding, the staff were incredibly delightful. Breakfast at 8:00 am was delicious and so was the wine and cheese served after 5:00 o clock daily. Its decor was beautiful and the flowers in the garden were top notch, a treat to see and smell all the different plants and aromas. If ever you get the chance, its not far from the Bay area and a hidden secret worth visiting. Also Zip line excursions right down the road, heck of fun.

Room Tip: There is the room we stayed at had the only fire place and just a canopy bed you wont believe its co...

We found this place through an online deal and weren't really sure what the town would be like but the pics of the inn were beautiful. When we got there we found it to be better than pictured. Such a beautiful Inn!! We staid in the Sonoma Room and it was luxury! Breakfast was made fresh every morning along with great coffee and homemade granola. The Inn Keepers were delightful and helpful as was their staff. The Inn was a great location to take day trips from through the beautiful Russian River Valley. This is a fabulous place!! I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a great wine country experience!

Room Tip: The Rooms separate from the main Inn offer a nice view of Occidental and the hills. As well as a gre...

From my business travels, I am accustomed to first class hotels that cater to business travelers. After a week long business trip to San Francisco, I decided to stay for a few extra days with my wife and travel to Sonoma. Upon the recommendation from a friend, we reserved a room at the Inn at Occidental. As you near Occidental from the east, your first exposure is a small road that winds through the forest, has changes in elevation about every 100 feet and more pot holes than you can count. You are left wondering, "Where is this taking me?" As you enter Occidental you realize that you are in a valley surrounded by hills on all four sides. The result? 100% blockage of all cell phone signals. For some this may be a bad thing, for others, like me, a perfect reason to turn off my "attached to the hip technology device." As you make the turn up the hill and onto Church street, passing some commercial buildings and a few small homes, the thought that you might have missed the turn for the Inn, or that you are just completely lost will cross your mind. I implore you, press on. The find at the end of the road is most spectacular and well worth overcoming your fears. The Inn has been well maintained and the dazzling vines, roses and other garden varieties will soothe even the most tempered of spirits. Situated on the side of one of the four hills and overlooking the entire town of Occidental, the Inn has an amazing view of all that surrounds it. All of the rooms at the Inn are theme based and looking for fun and bright accommodations, we chose the Cirque Du Sonoma suite. Fun, colorful and full of all kinds of neat accessories that immediately evoke dreams of the circus. Inside, a most comfortable king sized bed, a huge whirlpool bath and an outdoor deck overlooking the amazing nature of this town. Not to be outdone, the owners and staff of the Inn are most attentive, friendly and did I mention friendly? Within a few short minutes after our arrival, we felt like old souls that have visited this place many times before. We were given a tour of the entire facility, taken to our room and reminded to attend the daily 5 to 6 pm wine and cheese reception. Greeted with local wines and cheeses, the reception is an opportunity to mingle and meet other guests of the Inn. Listening to current guests recount their trips to local wineries, eateries and the pacific ocean alone is worth attending the daily event. But wait, it gets better yet - Every morning, the staff prepares a breakfast with local ingredients that bring out the flavor of the meal with passion. The attention to detail and the careful thought given to each and every process at the Inn are not easily missed. you can't help but notice the care given to every guest. Tina and Jerry, the owners of the Inn have done a fantastic and outstanding job. Thank you for allowing us to partake of your little slice of heaven.

Room Tip: Plan ahead and review the available themed rooms online prior to arrival so that you can chose the o...

We do appreciate the positive comments regarding our small 18 room Inn. I would like to add one point regarding the feedback. Verizon cell service does work in Occidental plus the Inn is wireless allowing everyone to use their iphone and ipads.

I write a few Trip Advisor reviews each year and rarely award 5/5. This place however is the real deal in terms of quaint, service, comfort, bespoke room decor, attentiveness, real versus forced service. I could go on. Its simply a great place to stay (in what is literally a ''one horse town'')

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend here and absolutely fell in love with this place! Tucked into the hill and landscaped beautifully...you feel like your somewhere magical. Our room had everything a hotel room should have! A fireplace, jacuzzi tub, shower, robes, comfy huge bed, small refrigerator, two sinks, breakfast by a fireplace, outdoor patio seating...the list goes on. You want for nothing at the Inn...they have thought of everything! We will be back!!

We stayed for the first time in the Sonoma Cottage. Loved it! Spacious, relaxing, tubs in both bedrooms, fireplaces also in both bedrooms. I sipped coffee with my book infront of the living room fire while the others slept in!
Very relaxing, thank you Jerry and Tina.

In 2011 we participated in a wine tour on bikes through Napa and Sonoma Valleys, which included one night at The Inn at Occidental - what a treat!!! We couldn't resist the temptation and booked again this year in March 2012. Tina, Jerry and the staff even went out of their way to allow us to have the same room (Marble Room) as during our first stay! They helped us with reservations and the breakfast in the morning was exquisite! We will deifnitely come again!
