Attraction details
Owner description: Turnbull produces exceptional quality Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, dirt to bottle, from our 100% estate grown vineyards in Oakville and the Napa Valley. We are known for our small production bottlings, most only available exclusively at the winery. We are a hidden gem, an authentic and approachable winery experience where you can taste our honest and true wines at their source. We offer private tastings by prior appointment, and gallery tastings open to the public seven days a week. We believe in the opportunity to pause, explore, and discover something new every day, and for us, wine should be no exception. Other highlights: Pairing Garden - Planted with edible produce and flowers that offer perfect pairings with our wines, this is also a great spot to relax with friends in front of the fire and taste wines. Photography Gallery - Turnbull has one of the largest private black and white photography collections, and twice yearly we curate a show in our Gallery Tasting Room, featuring a plethora of famous artists, including such notables as Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Jock Sturges, Dorothea Lange, Herb Ritts and more. History Established in 1979 at the original estate site where the winery is today, Turnbull has been rooted in the culture and history of the Napa Valley for more than 35 years. We are a small, family-owned, multi-generation business building on a legacy.

“Fabulous photo exhibition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Most things in Napa Valley are very expensive, but here's a fantastic free art exhibit. Driving through the valley last week, I noticed a sign that said wine tasting and free photo exhibit. Given that we had a little time, I pulled in, half expecting to see some so so photos of the valley. Not so, instead there were magnificent art photos from some of the most famous photographers - Karsh, Atget, Adams, etc. I found out that what is on display changes and is one a part of the owner's collection.

Also, from time to time they have wine tasting and art evenings, but unfortunately we were only there for the day. Can't speak to the wine, as I wasn't drinking that day, but if you are into high quality photography, this is definitely a (short) stop worth taking.

“Great stop in sonoma”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

We loved our stop here at this winery!! The wines were some of the best we had. The staff were personable and friendly. They even changed the music, when we mentioned we just heard Adele's new song, and thought it would really go nicely with their wines. We would definitely go there again!!! We truly enjoyed the vineyard, and the fig tree outside the door. The Voignier was delightful!

“Great winery and overall experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Stopped here during our tour of Napa and Sonoma. Was a great experience from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly and helpful. We tasted in the Reserve room with Ron and had a few fantastic wines. We loved the Viognier and we are not white wine drinkers per say. We happened to be there when the grapes came in and got a mini tour. Overall one of our new favorite stops and the wines were superb.

“Small Winery with great grounds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

we enjoy the old bull red and I have only ever found it at the winery. The grounds have a self guided art tour/display. When I went they were having an open house with ribs. The ribs paired so well with the wine that we asked to speak to the chef. They gave us the recipe, no problem. When I was last there, Turnbull was displaying a local photographer. The tasting room is small, the grounds are enjoyable (think secret garden), and the wine is good.
