Owner description: We pride ourselves on making one varietal that is food-friendly and deliciously drinkable upon release. Our story begins in the early 1970's when Ray Duncan befriended winegrower Justin Meyer. The two formed a partnership and co-founded Silver Oak Cellars in 1972 with the bold vision of producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Come experience the Silver Oak Cellars Napa Valley winery in Oakville, CA to enjoy exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon wine tasting tours.

“Excellent Wine But Average Tasting Experience”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

The Silver Oak Winery in Geyserville was the first of over 20 wineries we visiited on a recent week long trip to northern California. We already knew Siver Oak makes excellent Cabernet and we wanted our viist to Silver Oak to be a baseline for the rest of our tastings. For the tasting fee of $20, you are given samples of two vintages of Alexander Valley cab and two vintages of Napa Valley cab. (BTW, Silver Oak only makes Cabernet Sauvignon. It's sister winery, Twomey, makes other varietals.) Again, all four wines we tasted were excellent. But, the tasting was very business-like and lacked the atmosphere and warmth we experienced later in the week at other wineries. We did appreciate the staff's suggestions of wineries we should visit as we continued our trip into the Anderson Valley. Overall, Silver Oak is worth visiting if you want to taste excellent wines you may not normally drink because of the cost, or if Silver Oak is something you regularly drink. If you're looking for a longer tasting experience with a variety of wines that are more affordable, Silver Oak is probably not fo you.

“Super Sized Wine Were Impressive!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

It was one of bigger wineries in the area. Once walked in the building, it had a "Wow" factor! These super sized wines in the glass cellar were impressive. The wine shop offered some unique gifts such as 3L $60 and 6L $100 display bottle.

“Great Tasting at Silver Oak”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

Silver Oak Cellars was a nice winery to stop by for a tasting because it is only $20 per person, but you get to keep the wine glass. It was very crowded when we dropped in, but they have plenty of items to browse that will keep you busy until a spot opens up. We shared our tasting here, asked for a second wine glass – who wants just one Silver Oak wine glass - and took home a bottle of the 2005 Vintage my husband loves. Great time!

We loved our tour and tasting at Silver Oak. Kolea was our host and she was amazing. Their wines are well known and wonderful.

“Pricey tasting, average experience”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

With all the wineries and tastings to choose from, I was disappointed in the experience at Silver Oak. We have had the wines before and really enjoyed them, so this was even more of a disappointment. The reception was lukewarm, unlike so many others, and there is nothing unique about the setting or the tasting room. The souvenirs are VERY expensive, comparatively. We visited about 15 wineries on this trip and this one ranks in the bottom third, in my estimation. You do get to keep the wine glass, like some of the other places, so that takes the sting out of the tasting price a bit.
