Absolutely wonderful!

Took the Al fresco wine-pairing lunch tour and had a fabulous time. We had a small group of 6 so the tour was very personal and intimate. The 3-course family style buffet lunch was delicious and the wine pours were extremely generous! Highly recommended and will most definitely try again.

My fiance and I are new to wine but we are really getting into it. We were out in CA for a wedding in Livermore (also a great wine spot...like a mini Napa) so we decided to take a ride up to Napa. Knowing nothing about the area, we stopped and asked the local tourist info people and this was the first place they recommended...we're glad they did!

First off, don't be afraid of the sheer size of the place when you pull up. We were initially put off as there were a million people and cars buzzing around the place; it looked too commercialized but it's actually a great place. We opted to take the $25 tour which lasted about 1.5 hours which you will learn is a GREAT deal in Napa. The guide was very personable and was more than happy to answer our "rookie" questions. At the end, we were able to try 3 different wines (one of them being a reserve wine) and they also had homemade snacks for us to much on.

In conclusion, if you are new to the whole wine seen, this is a GREAT place to start. You will learn a great deal about Cali, Napa, grapes, wine, the wine making process, wine tasting, etc.

we really enjoyed our tour at Robert Mondavi. we took the $25 tour which lasted about an hour and a half and we got to taste 5 wines plus a small appetizer. the tour is great for napa valley first timers (like us) who want to get a good understanding of the wine making process.

Robert Mondavi's Cabernet was my first favorite wine and we used to drink a lot of it, so I really wanted to visit the winery.

I called and made a reservation for 12pm a month and a half in advance, but somehow it got messed up or lost or something. We ended up getting a 1230pm Signature Tour ($25 pp). Our tour started in a room telling us about different regions of wine in CA and some history on Mondavi. We went out to the demo vineyard and was told about the vines and harvesting. We went into the cellar and saw wine fermenting in hugh barrels and then went to where the barrels are stored to sit for a couple of years. We ended the tour in a room with a huge dining table for a sit down tasting of 3 wines plus a port.

We tasted 2007 Fume Blanc Reserve, 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir Reserve, 2006 Carneros Cabernet, and Moscato D'Oro.

The tour group was 16 people and went 1.5 hours. I thought it was a little too long. Our group like to ask questions though.

Not being connoisseur of wine, this was the perfect winery tour for me. Mondavi has been in the valley for many years and has a rich history of which they are proud. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours and went from the fields of grapes, to the fermentation process & then to a tasting. Our tour guide was Joshua Carbajal. His duties at the winery do not ordinarily include tour guide, but he was filling in for another associate. What a stroke of luck for our group! Joshua has degrees in agriculture & a masters in Wine. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the growing of the grapes; the environmental factors in Napa that make it conducive for the grapes; the making of the wine; the fine art of wine tasting; and also the rich Mondavi history. What an asset to this company.
If you are a novice of wine & want a great place to learn the basics and taste some fine wine, then Mondavi is the place for you.
