Needed a fabulous place to have a birthday dinner. Wood Tavern's food, service, and drinks definitely fit the bill.

The pork chop was by far the best one I've ever eaten. The pork chop was tender, moist, and had some sort of glaze on it, or was marinated in something that was perfect. It came with fingerlings, and a corn with leeks type sauce. This dish was full of flavor, balanced well, with still allowed the flavor of the pork to come through.

The service was wonderful, and went above and beyond. Their service exceeds how one would like to be treated at a 5 star. Which brings me to prices. I feel Wood Tavern was very reasonable for entrees, drinks, and desserts. I was very surprised.

I've been here a couple of times in the afternoon and never been disappointed, the dishes have always been top quality and the bar has a great selection of drinks.

On a typically busy evening, our group of 7 had to hungrily wait for nearly an hour after the appetizer course to receive our main dishes. The only excuse is that "we have a very small kitchen."
The dishes were well conceived and most were prepared well except the halibut (3 of us had this dish) was overcooked. No restaurant should commit to halibut unless it's kitchen is prepared to deal with the very small margin of error when it coes to its doneness. Obviously, Wood Tavern hasn't master this.
Our waiter was rather abrupt at times--he seemed upset that we were "bothering him" with various requests for more bread and water as we awaited the main dish.

We were fortunate to get a table at 5:30 by the window so it was not so noisy there. The restaurant was not pouring over with a crowd. Just a vibrant Monday night. We ordered the gnocchi appetizer and it was very good. The portions is not overwhelming and the flavors are very well thought out. That is why this restaurant works. Every dish we selected is a well planned execution of ordinary dishes such as roasted chicken breast and pork chop. The favors are distinct and carefully chosen. The service is good enough. I think the servers get overwhelmed with the success and popularity of the restaurant. We will go back sometime and the best time is earlier in the week when both the kitchen and servers get a chance to breath. The wine list is not very long and there seemed to be more choice with red wines. We had martini's instead.

Wonderful all around experience. Food choices are tantalizing using products from neighborhood stores and producers. Sit near sliding glass windows which open right on the sidewalk with views and interchange with the passing scene of people and animals. Behind you is the wonderful bar noise with people drinking and eating at the bar. Dinner took 2 1/2 hours and it seemed to be too short.

Imaginative menu with the most tender Octopus and wonderful pasta with scrapping from lamb shoulder. Delightful crispy pork belly and absolutely marvelous gnocchi. All products purchased from neighboring merchants. Excellent wine with reasonable prices. I recommend the first red, a Sottimano from the Piemonte region of Italy

Only negative is noi pastry chef. All ice cream based desserts
