We were very happy with our lunch, even though they have very few carts. We got one porridge with Chinese donut, one Pan Fried Rice noodles with XO Sauce, one Vegetarian roll, one Sweet Tofu, and two tea. Dimitri walked around the restaurant looking at what other people had ordered and we just asked for dishes that looked good and got recommendations from other diners. We spent $28.86 plus tip.

First time back to Peony since they changed management. They have new furniture and I believe new carpet. Plus the women's restroom has had a complete makeover. Very nice but the door to the stall I used didn't lock. Got there to meet a friend at 11 AM and got seated right away. I wasn't expecting too much but the food was decent of what we ordered. We ordered some from the carts and some from the paper order. There weren't too many carts that had different kinds of dishes just the same ones coming round so we ordered shrimp dumplings with xo sauce, vegetarian rolls, egg tarts, pot stickers and a plate of oyster sauce Chinese broccoli. If we had more people, we would have ordered more food. Next time will try to get the steamed black bean spareribs, pork dumpling (siu my), chicken feet, fried taro (woo gok), steamed turnip cake and some of my other favorites to give a more thorough review. Only had 3 small potstickers on one order and they were passable. The best tasting dish out of all were the egg tarts, buttery delish!

Can't believe that we had never reviewed Restaurant Peony, and we've been to this restaurant dozens of times for dim sum and dinner: both are excellent. Anything on the dim sum menu is yummy, but our favorites are the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, steamed dumplings, pork chum fun, and baked bbq pork buns.

Our favorite dishes for dinner are the delicious Peking duck with buns and honey walnut shrimp. The Peking duck has the most wonderful flavor and crispy skin. Be sure to add the plum sauce and green onions to the little white buns along with the duck. Convenient parking below the restaurant.

Since this restaurant changed ownership/management, food and service have improved. The new owner cleaned up the interior and changed the room configuration which make it more inviting. Came with husband during a week day so there was no wait. Ordered dim sum from a sheet which is fine because food will be hot when they come to the table instead of sitting in those push carts circling the restaurant. Ordered Shanghai dumplings, pan fried daikon cake, deep fried taro pork dumplings (the best we have ever had), chicken feet, beef balls, bean curd rolls, chives shrimp dumpling and pea sprout dumplings. We enjoyed all the items listed and service was fine. We will revisit often now. Finally there is a decent dim sum restaurant in Oakland Chinatown.

This restaurant used to call Restaurant Peony but they have changed ownership since Nov. 2013 and now is called Peony Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant has been renovated and it looks much better than before. The service was very good and the meals were top shape Hong Kong style cooking. The dishes are within a reasonable price. Will go back again end of the week with few more couples for another meal. Highly recommended for this restaurant. On Monday to Friday evenings from 5-11pm, you can park at the garage in the lower level for just $2 for the whole evening.
