Description: Waterfront views, rolling hills, locally-made food, 261 days of sun a year. Oakland and Northern Italy have more than just their climates in common. And this February, Lungomare combines the best of both regions on the waterfront at Jack London Square. Giving Oaklanders a new way to enjoy some of the city's best features: fresh food and fine weather, Lungomare is the latest project from the owners of Chop Bar and Grand Tavern, and while the setting is new, the mission remains the same: quality ingredients, perfectly executed. The menu will offer a blend of Tuscan and Ligurian specialties - a mix of seafood, house-cured meats, rustic pizza and fresh pasta, with dishes locally sourced whenever possible. Since the waterfront has one of the best views in the Town, Lungomare has plenty of outdoor seating, with heat lamps, wind screens and trellises to make it a comfortable place to sit year-round. Plus, there will be a raw bar, a regular bar, and a cafe to make it an all-day destination, whether you're grabbing coffee on the way to work, or dinner on a Saturday night.

I have always enjoyed the creative approach to fine dining offered by the chef at Lungomare. Great presentation, just the right serving size, and fresh ingredients are the standard. The Risotto with hen of the woods mushrooms is my favorite. Try the mussels to start, and/or the heirloom tomato salad. Decent wine list, a pit pricey. Bring your credit card, but it's worth it.

An aside: the bar lounge is a great spot for a fancy cocktail or simple glass of wine. Easy to meet travelers in town staying at the Waterfront Hotel. They started a monthly drag show but don't go just for that, it needs a little work.

Had a great meal with family and friends. The staff is great. Very accomodating and helpful. Had only seafood stuff: frito misto (great and a lot of it. aoli not so much a fan of); grilled octopus (this was very good. got a bunch of weirdo's at my table to be mature and try it. they liked it a lot); rissotto (squid ink doesnt add flavor, but man does it add a dramatic affect. Very nice.). I never really ate at Miss Pearls, but I feel the vibe is much better now. Would definitely go back.

They have a kids menu (aka bar food) too.

We visited for lunch on a nice warm June day and sat outside with a nice view of the water. The service was very good, the particular waitress for our table very attentive and knowledgeable about the food. Service was fast. We mostly had light meals, salad, panini, steamed mussels, and were all very satisfied with our selections. Also the price for most of the menus was very reasonable with $10-15 unless you went for the secondi, which we did not.

We chose this place on a trip into Oakland to check out Jack London Square and due to the great looking views over the water. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated and were seen to by two different people who didn't know what the other was doing. Once seated we waited 20 minutes before someone even came to take our drinks order, and then only when we asked the hostess if anyone was assigned to serve our table. The manager came over and took our order, we ordered the crab cakes off the menu, a side of chicken sausage for the kids to share and some drinks. 10 minutes later a different waiter comes over to tell us they dont have any crab cakes left (it was around 1pm in the afternoon) so we ordered two different dishes, then my husband decided to order a bloody Mary but then he apologized again they don't have any bloody mary mix left so he was recommended to have a coffee with a shot of Jamieson in. About 10 minutes later our two main dishes arrived, mine looked like a bowl of porridge with two eggs in it and I had about 3 chunks of pork fat underneath the eggs, my husband had the same fatty pork in his hash browns, some grilled bread that was rock hard and inedible and the potatoes were not fully cooked. After another 10 minutes we asked about our outstanding chicken sausage and the waitress went to check on it, then came back and apologized saying it got missed off and they were just making it now! We cancelled it as we had already finished and we had all reached our tolerance limit. We asked for the check and left with no intention of returning in the near future. As we were about to leave a different waitress arrived with our sausage.
