This is a very small, modern restaurant located in the heart of the Rockridge district of Oakland. With only five tables and a counter bar it has an intimate atmosphere where it is easy to engage your server or the owner in discussions about their food or their extensive list of Italian wines.
We have dinned here twice. Both times the food, wine and service were excellent. We especially enjoyed trying many new wines with the various courses (easy to do since they offer mini flights).
We would highly recommend their popular Tagliatelle al ragu made with pork and beef that had been stewing for 5 hours. It is prepared behind the counter by the chef. My wife enjoyed it so much that she had it again on our second visit. I have a weakness for a good Salumi platter and the Salame toscano made in Berkeley was especially delicious. Perhaps the best I've ever had. I also had a wonderful Braciole di maile (pork stuffed with perconino, pine nuts and raisins and served with cooked greens). I will order that again on a future visit.
For dessert we had an amazing salted caramel pudding with a glass of Badia di Morrona. That alone is worth the trip! You won't be disappointed!
This is an ideal place for a date or a couple without the lines or frantic activity of some of the well known restaurants in the area. The place fills up quickly but it is easy to make a reservation on urban table (there is a link on the restaurant website)
